Hey guys, New to the forums here but have been lurking since the beginning of January. I'm John-Michael from Columbia, SC (Notice some other good ol' boys on the forum) and have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 2WD in black. My only car before that was a 04 Suzuki Aerio SX 5 speed. I'm a musician and primarily play bass guitar and I was looking for a car with space. I gig close to every weekend and have practices just about every other day.
Starting doing the outdoors thing a few years ago and the ol' Zuki just couldn't live up to that - No toting around kayaks or going off pavement. I started grinding on a truck hard the top of last year and started looking around Thanksgiving. My first choice was a Taco crew cab, so I could tote friends around and stash gear in the cab if I needed to. My dad was in the middle of planning a move so he planned on buying it, getting use out of it, and selling it to me. After narrowing down the selection to a few trucks he just up and decided that he wasn't going to buy one any more. With that momentum and anticipation I decided to go out and get my first loan (I'm 20) and buy one. Went down to Carmax the next day and truck choices 1 and 2 had already been sold. Third choice was a 2006 F150 Crew. Ran off with that for a few days, loved the big truck feel of it, but decided that I'd rather have a full roof. Swapped out the F150 (after my dad did get some use out it moving!) for my 4Runner and haven't looked back!
It's completely stock right now but I'll post some pictures up when I get my camera back in a few days.
BlairB is the inspiration for my ride.
Future upgrades in purchase / install order:
- Aftermarket stereo, Alpine unit out of my old Suzuki
- CB Radio and antenna, looking at the Cobra 18 WX ST II installed below my headunit, not sure on antenna yet
- Bajarack The Mule + Ax / Shovel mount
- Defiant light bar + driving lights on the inside, fogs on the outside
Future upgrades in no particular order:
- Amp for door speakers placed under driver seat
- When the door speakers finally go, new speakers
- Match the tint in the rear to the front.
- Install a trailer hitch in the front
- Hitch mounted wench
- Reinforce corner spots for being pulled out
- Lightrack on the Bajarack, front and rear
- All Terrain tires
- Widen my stance with spacers + maybe a lift
Looking forward to sharing my evolution with y'all!
