So I discovered this guy Joe Joe today from an older post regarding transmissions. How many of you have ordered your parts from him? I just got of the phone with him and we had a very long great conversation but sending a stranger a large sum of money via Zelle kind of concerns me? If a bunch of you have ordered from him before it would certainly calm my fears.

Zelle has no "buyer protection". You can't 'cancel' a transfer of funds. That's why it's not recommended for purchases. It's intended for sending/receiving money to/from people you know.
I pay my tax preparer through Zelle because I know her. I paid a guy (who I didn't know previously) who was selling a piece of camera gear through Zelle while I was standing there after having examined the gear.

Here's 7 pages of reviews on Joe Joe, some good at first and then mostly bad, only the first 5 or so pages will be of interest to you, but after I read those 5 pages I wouldn't do any business with Joe Joe.

When I needed a new trans 2 yrs ago someone on here tried connecting me to him (since I don't do social media stuff).

He contacted me Once with an attachment looking like a home typed invoice for $3500. It specified no details - no info if shipping was included - timeframe of delivery - taxes involved - nothing.

So I replied to the guy with my questions - no replies. What my momma taught me was to avoid a person like this.

I then learned toyota had run out of their internal supply of A340s (*2 yrs ago) so researched here and learned about Yota1 out of Riverbank CA - cost me $2600 + a good core and its the Best decision I made transmission wise - its smooth as silk.

I believe it was your post I was reading that mentioned Joe Joe so I looked it up being curious on FB. I messaged him asking about a transmission and he answered back but then called me via Messenger. We had a very long conversation and he almost had me hooked. But the whole Zelle thing bothered me a lot because there is no protection and I ain't giving some stranger $1k+ without having some kind of protection. I also emailed Yota1 and that Joe got back to me late yesterday saying he needed some additional info and to call him today. So I will be doing that instead. I got a ton of negative feed back on the Reddit 3rd Gen group and that pretty much sealed the deal for me do not do business with a scammer/thief. He is super slick on the phone I will say that but my internal spidey sense just wasn't having it. Thank you for the replies everyone!
 
Who you do business with Proofs in the Puddin, nothin good to say keepin ma mouth shut.

01's-02's gona do 01-02 things. Mine still rollin atm.
So been paying attention about 3 yrs., Yota1 on the radar then, [MENTION=75316]jgue467[/MENTION] /others feedback looks a good bet.

From my personal experience, he's a crook and a liar. Two years of "waiting" for my parts, always an excuse, and no way to get a refund, because it's always someone else's fault.

so I started that thread and if you read the first 10 or so posts you will see people on this forum liked him. That was a while ago and things can change. I have ordered from him in the past and had no issues. I used pay pal.
however if I have time to wait ill order from overseas if OEM, otherwise rock auto etc, My local dealer sucks and the next one is 300+ miles away owned by same people
 
I don't have any firsthand experience with him but I feel like, and I could be wrong, [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] or [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] have dealt with him before. Or at least I feel like seeing something being posted by them regarding that guy on Facebook. Wish I had better info to offer but I feel like maybe Tim or Sean can throw out their two cents.
 
Got my parts

I too recently found him on Facebook. Then I found these forums. I'm not much a computer guy. I sent him monies for lower ball joints and had them within 20 hours of placing my order. Parts look to be legit OEM. Price was great. So not sure what all the fuss is about this guy?
 
It works for some and not others - that is the issue.

For me it felt too sketchy. Needed a new trans - he only sent some invoice from a dealer in CA - no details - no idea if shipping was included - no idea if taxes were extra - asked him - no responses and he wanted $3500.

Would you have proceeded in that situation?

Maybe it would have been all fine but that is too much money to gamble for this poor guy. It was a good move - I saved hundreds by going with Yota1 ($2600).

Again - I'm sure he's an upfront guy yet he manages to not be on everyone's 'trusted inner circle'. Luck all.

That was exactly my position. He insisted on being paid via Zelle which doesn't give me any protection at all. I ain't rich like him (he told me he makes 7-8 figures per year in his "other" job)? I can't afford to have $1000 just taken from me from a complete internet stranger regardless of what he says or anyone else for that matter. If you notice there is a post just above yours from someone who says they ordered LBJ's from him and had them 20 hours later? That poster just joined Sept. 2024 and has 1 post that one? I don't think you need to guess who it is. And explain to me how you could possibly get something in 20 hrs.? He sent me some not friendly messages on Facebook when he found this post. He screenshot it and sent it to me saying I made a huge mistake blah, blah, blah. I politely asked him to just drop it as I had been a gentleman about it and have not talked ill of him anywhere. There is however a plethora of unflattering information that can be gleaned from simple internet searches which just make me feel even better about my decision. Plus your post and experience with Yota1 sealed the deal so again thanks for sharing your experience.

Tim ( [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] ) and I have NEVER ordered from this guy..

He did come up some time ago (around 1 year ago), but we never moved forward with any parts orders with him.

we have no skin in the game when it comes to this guy nor do we know him personally.

Recently, we have heard about his antics and how some people are not getting the parts they were promised...

but up until now, it seemed as if people were getting what they paid for and at a steep discount so at face value it seems like it was a good thing.

it's just hard to trust people these days and with more reports of this guy not delivering I think it's safe to say I wouldn't order from him.

Pay a little more from a reputable dealer and be happy you actually received your parts even if you paid a little more. it's better than never receiving what you paid for at a "discount"
 
So let me understand, because in was direct dnto this forum by a Facebook post, I'm now Joe Joe? Ok. Got it

I ordered at 2:00 on a Monday and had my order when the UPS driver came at 10 am on Tuesday. That's 20 hours. It shows the parts were sent from Los Angeles to San Diego. So it's more than reasonable to assume it only takes one day for delivery from LA to SD.

It just seems like you're finding any reason you can to not like the guy.

I joined his Facebook group. Hundreds of positive reviews on that group of over 18k people. Seems like the proof is in the pudding. I'll keep ordering from him. Great prices and fast shipping. Can't beat it!
 
I've learned from the past with sketchy people. If it looks to good to be true, it is. Period. I only order from toyota oem, rockauto, walk in parts store or amayama. I've lost to much money in the past from shady people. Also another reason I never do preorderes from individuals or small businesses, to much risk.

Though I have no skin in the game, thus it's just my .00000002 cents worth (adjusted for inflation).
