Great build. Walking the same path with a 5VZ that has 450K miles on it. Your pics and info really help. You mentioned the block was bored. Did you reuse your stock pistons? Machine shop bored my block + .020" to clean it up. I am sourcing over-sized pistons. Appreciate any recommended sources. Thanks!

Machine shop bored mine to 020 as well and supplied the bigger pistons, rings, rods, bearings and thrust washers as they had a source. I know a lot of people use yotashop but i didnt end up needing to personally.
As for an update, Nissan seats are in! I think they are from a murano but dont know for sure.
Took the better part of a day. Started on the passenger side by using the entire lower slider and feet from the 4R seat. Seemed like the best way to go but after i got to the driver side(which i couldnt use the lower slider because the nissan driver side isnt manual) i decided that the best and only bet was to cut the feet off and weld them to the nissan sliders.
Only going to post the latter as it was the right option and i shouldve done both that way.

Once i had the 4R feet off and the nissan sliders cleaned up and foot free, i bolted the feet into the truck then lined up the nissan seat without the bottom cushion on and tacked the sliders to the feet while in the cab(not great but i used a welding blanket to keep the carpet from catching fire)
After that i pulled it back out and crudely welded it with my cheapo harbor freight mig. The holes where the rivets were worked great for plug welds
After that i just reinstalled the bottom cushion and put the whole thing in.
Didnt have time to wire it today so i just quickly ran a hot wire from the battery and a ground to adjust the seat to where i need it.
And all done for the day

Slider update, found these in the local classifieds and will be picking them up saturday.
Much better start than my scraps and still very cheap. Might need to extend a tad as they are about 58” but for 40 bucks i’ll modify. I have plenty of plate for the feet and some gussets for strength.

As I was leaving smith's last night walking back to my T4R I noticed a 3rd gen parked next to me. As I get closer I realize it's yours and I was standing there checking it out then I noticed your girl in the passenger seat. Hopefully she didnt think I was creeping. LOL Nice looking rig man!

Started mocking up the sliders, had to trim one leg but otherwise i think they’ll fit pretty good once extended a tad.
Question is, do i center it and lengthen a little on both ends
Or push it back and only lengthen the front?

Probably easier to cut it in the middle and lengthen from there?

If i want to lengthen the whole thing, i think you’re right but i was just planning on extending the lower rail.
I know i lose a little protection that way but i have some pipe that i should be able to use to add a few inches on either side. I suppose i could draw out the whole thing but hadnt thought about it

Also came upon a goober in a 2wd frontier buried up to the front bumper in a rut and not going anywhere anytime soon. He flew past us an hour or so earlier as we were just cruising and taking in the sights. Anywho, yanked him out without as much as a thanks and continued on our way. Great mini adventure and a fun day overall

All settled in the new digs just waiting on the builder to finish the yard.
Time to organize the garage and get back to work on my sliders, installing the inclinometer and then maybe the spare swing out project.

Did a little exploring last weekend, always a good time and this canyon is about 10 minutes from our house.
This happened before we went offroad
got pulled over for the first time in the 4R and found out the law is a little different here in Utah for wheel poke and lift. Apparently if more than half of the tire shows from behind you must have rear mudflaps and im still a little unclear on poke but at a certain point you must have flares. I get it, with all the offroad access everywhere you end up with guys throwing rocks all over and i wouldnt want to be the guy behind them.
Being that i got an unofficial warning im not terribly worried about it yet but figured i’d at least try to comply. So i made a trip back to Pic A Part and scored, yet again, with some sr5 flareless flaps(just like the ones i threw away while in texas)
5 bucks a piece, that’ll do.
Glanced around for anything else i’ve been needing, mainly a center vent and window control but realized that the same sr5 didnt have a sunroof or roof rack.
So i somehow scored the coveted roof rack delete strips with hardware for $4 more

In other news, disassembled the front end for what i hope will be the last time for a while to change the oil and add a fumoto valve
Also, ive been putting it off for a long time because i havent needed it but i went ahead and threw the new AC components on to get that going. It hasnt been hot enough out here yet but i know i’d be dying without it back in texas.
Still have to do the expansion valve but everything out front is buttoned up and new [emoji106]
Update: Well Hell, tried to get to the expansion valve without changing the evaporator... unfortunately the evaporator has to come out for the the valve to be changed so of course i decided to bite the bullet and change the evaporator as well... just incase.
Found one local same day somehow and should've opened it before taking it home and digging in but i didnt. Sure enough, the new one has some pretty good damage to the fins, to the point that i cant rule out a pinhole in the core and therefore dont want to install if there is a chance i'll have to pull it right back out once it leaks.
Also, i paid retail for it and i want one thats perfect for that price. Unfortunately that meant taking it back and ordering one in from out of town that wont show for several days... womp
Hoping to pick up the new one today and get it all back together tomorrow. if all goes well i should have AC early next week!
Also build myself a workbench while i was at it.

Ahhhh finally got my AC system all sealed up, vac’d and recharged... feels nice
Decided to buy all the stuff to do it myself and glad i did as i had a leak that needed sealing and a few tweaks before final vac. Not sure what that wouldve cost me at a shop but for 120 bucks and knowing im all sealed and holding im a happy camper.
Hopefully back to sliders soon, need to get them on already

I'm debating doing this same thing and may still do it as you have by buying all the needed tools. Recently replaced the condenser and drier/receiver after having Firestone discharge the system (which they did for free, btw). I'd feel somewhat bad for not going back to them to get it recharged, but am paranoid that there may be a leak somewhere on the replaced parts.
Did you get the air compressor operated vacuum pump, or the electric one (assuming tools acquired from the local Hazard Fraud)?
Edit: actually looked at the picture to see the electric pump. Is that the dual stage or single stage?

I replaced the whole system(minus a few lines that i cleaned out) and just recently finished the expansion valve and evaporator fiasco. I thought i would just do the outsidey parts but a friend who knows more suggested doing it all once because the old expansion valve and/or evaporator could cause early failure in all my other new parts. I didnt document it but probably should have because it was a giant pain that i didnt research beforehand at all and i should have.
I got the whole kit from amazon after watching a couple vids of guys using it successfully. I had a feeling it wasnt going to be 100% the first go and didnt want to waste time and money with a shop diagnosing or leak-hunting.

Single stage vac pump and pretty cheap kit but fittings all seemed to hold and once i replaced a few o-rings, vac held solid for an hour.
this was the best vid i found(knowing only the basics of AC) and it helped tremendously

Joelzy, I know your pain of accessing the evap and expansion valve had to change mine in 2012, your friend gave good advice about changing them. If all goes well your good for 200k mi, which then I would change drier again.
