Joelzy, I know your pain of accessing the evap and expansion valve had to change mine in 2012, your friend gave good advice about changing them. If all goes well your good for 200k mi, which then I would change drier again.

96Red's system worked till 325k mi, drier cartridge broke up zillion pieces got through out system. New 01 got drier/condenser at 198k, $30 drier goes a long way.

You can't beat having Max A/C blowing with windows down on the trails, ha.

Drove to Idaho for some facebook marketplace wheels i’ve been eyeing.
40 bucks for the set and though i havent test fit, the guy’s measurements would fit so we’ll see.

Love the look of these and though crusty i think with some love they’ll be rad.
Also made a quick stop at shoshone falls on the way home.

Good long test run in the 4runner before we try driving it to moab.

Not sure I love the wheels, but with the right tires and maybe a refinishing they could look very cool.

I had a feeling they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and that is A-Ok :thumb3:

i like a lot of classic wheels and these are 90s as hell. havent decided on a finish yet but might powdercoat them which will modernize a good bit and they'll get 285s for sure.

Anyone running extended studs and if so what size and where from? TIA

Did a little wheelin over the weekend and ordered some parts for the new wheels to work. Longer studs, ET style lugs and some 1/4” spacers should be in this week to get a proper test fit before i start refinishing the wheels. might end up needing the bigger spacers weekendclimber sent but hopefully the smaller ones will be enough as the wheels will poke a good bit more than i prefer with the bigger ones. If these wheels dont end up working, the bigger spacers will be perfect for the steelies.
Also need to work on the rock sliders, got pretty close to kissing rocker a few times this weekend.

I dig those classic rims man. Are they 15x10s? My brother has a set of classic blade Ch*vy 6x5.5's that look almost identical, the only issue is hub bore. Did you have any fitment issues with your testing?
Can't wait to see what you do to 'em.

Thanks! they are 16x8.5 so i think if i can get them out just a touch they'll clear the Tundra calipers. Hub bore is correct(surprisingly) but I bolted them up without spacers and they wouldnt even rotate, then i bolted them up with big spacers(~1.25 or 1.5) and they work, just poke more than the current 17s and i want to go in from there or at very least stay at the same amount of poke.

Funny, I live north of Twin, but I just bought some wheels from a guy in Layton, UT off KSL. Not as good of a deal as yours though.

No, I already have tires (285s), but wanted some 16x8 wheels to run them better. I snagged those land cruiser 80/lexus lx450 wheels. If you haven't, you should check out Idaho, tons of places to explore.

Started cleaning these crusty thangs, some pitting and a lot of oxidation so im either going to be sanding and clearing or blasting and powdercoating.
I think i want to drill the rivets out and use SS bolts too.

Thoughts on color? Thinking:
1. Raw/brushed aluminum + clear
2. Satin black with SS bolts
3. Bronze with SS bolts

I really think the bronze would treat your rig splendidly... But maybe throw a loop on what everyone does and try a brushed bronze finish? So a medium tone bronze with some faint dark brush overtones... Just my 0.2 cents!

Did another test fit with the smaller spacers and ET style lugs. Muuuuuch better offset and still clears brakes so thats all set. Only concern will be if the 285s touch UCA with this offset but i think i have enough clearance.

Now to decide on color/finish and eventually tires. Probably wont buy until im closer to needing them but who knows.

Decided to start on the platform being that i can do a little at a time on it for now.
Found a futon mattress that will be super comfy for camping so it was time to start building so we can try it out.

Realized that the high-lift would fit great between the backseat and hatch if i trimmed it a tad so that happened as well.
