Hello everyone. So I've used T4R since my first 4runner but joined after getting my new one (you'll see why I needed to)
Now this may be a stranger (and much MUCH longer, my aplogies) than usual introduction, but it's to explain my situation and also to ask some questions, anyways..
Starting with my first 4runner.. One year ago I bought a '99 SR5 all stock with only ~98k miles. Such a great ride, plus I got a great deal. I put on some BFG AT 285/75/16 (whatever biggest tires on stock is again), K&N air filter, and a nice new alpine unit.
So I was loving the car and was so close to graduating high school, but right before my last week I wrecked, very badly. The car was damaged beyond repair, and 3 of those tires popped as well
In the wreck I smashed my head very hard and was taken to the hospital. I won't go in depth but I will be open enough to admit that I suffered brain damage, and have had trouble relearning many simple things, including the things I loved to do. I'd say that I'm beyond optimistic and I never let this get me down. I'm still the same guy I was before, I've just been needing time to heal and relearn.
Okay so that was probably A LOT, my apologies.. but I'm an open person and don't mind admitting why I'll probably have plenty of questions regarding 4runners, car parts, etc, all of which I used to know so much about.
NOW THAT THAT'S COVERED..
My name on here is Lucy cause that's my cars name, not mine, I'm a guy! (but you can refer to me as Lucy) So once I was comfortable driving again I bought a '01 Limited (crazy good condition), got the same Alpine unit and K&N filter and am wanting to do a lot.
Now without having to ask a million little things, I really would just like to study everything about a 4runner in general.
-What kind of changes, if any, are there from my '99 to my '01? As in technical things.
-Where is a good place to read up on everything a 4runners got? Such as parts and all that (this is also to remember how parts work) The one thing I never really understood was wiring, if anyone's got a good source for learning how all the wiring works and runs in 4runners, and cars in general, that would be great.
Anyways, I'm from the Atlanta area and am just looking to learn a lot from here. Soo that was a lot but I don't mind being open, feel free to ask anything at all (really!) about any of this. I may or may not answer but I promise nothing will offend me. THANKS FOR READING
