since these are for the GRN215L/285L 4Runners, then the lower & upper mount bushings/hardware need not be replaced, just like the Bilstein 5100 33-187174.
I think it was only the 1999-2006 Tundra rear shock where the lower mount bushing had to be replaced with one that fits the N185L 4Runner

IMS59-50705 has comfort valving
Dobinsons IMS59-50705 Monotube IFP Shocks for Toyota and Lexus

IMS59-50701 has normal-firm valving
Dobinsons IMS59-50701 IMS Monotube IFP Rear Shocks for 2003-21 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, GX470 GX460 (0-3" lift)

I'm assuming that the lower shock mount bushings would have to be changed if fitting these to a 3rd gen but the top mount bushings/hardware would be the same?

I'm wondering if IMS59-50705 would be equivalent to the typical rear 4th/5th gen shocks offered by companies like bilstein since it's advertised as their stock weight valving?

Like HiluxSurf SSR-G said, the upper and lower mounts/bushings will work with 3rd gen 4Runners without modification. 1st gen Tundras have a different rear shock lower bushing. I can't take any credit for finding that shock listing, but thank you! I would assume that the IMS59-50705 would be softer than a comparable bilstein shock. In my experience with bilstein even the "stock" shocks they sell are valved for a firmer ride.

Thanks for the clarification. I was always under the impression that the tundra rear shock in addition to the 4th/5th gen shocks needed a different lower shock bushing. Good to know I can jack the rear shocks on my wife's 5th gen without having to change anything.

Has anyone in here used the Fox Racing Shox for the rear of the 1999-2006 Tundra? How does this compare with the Bilstein 5100 (24-100144)? Is the Fox shox firmer than the Bilstein 5100? It has about the same extended length (22.45" vs 22.44") but has a longer compressed length (14.35" vs 13.84").

I haven't used it so I can't speak to the quality/ride of Fox shocks, but all fox shocks are progressive (similar to Kings) while bilstein shocks are digressive.

Shocks meant for leaf spring suspensions will be softer than coil suspensions, since the leafs do some of their own damping - so expect them to still be too soft, even if they are stiffer than other offerings for that application.

Thanks. I'm having a hard time looking for a good shock to replace the rear Tundra Bilsteins which I find to be on the very soft side. If only there's a Bilstein shock of the same length but with the firmness of their 33-187174 shock, then I'd be happy.

I've looked at the King shocks but they don't seem to have one without the remote reservoir.

I've heard complaints about the Icon shocks
