Jump start with bad alternator

I just put an optima red top battery in my 06 4runner about 3 weeks ago and now my alternator has gone out. (probably what fried the original battery) I am getting a new alternator put in tomorrow. I had it tested last night and the battery only registered 11.4 volts. I tried to start it tonight and it wouldn't start. Can I jump the battery? Will I have enough juice to get me to the shop? (about 4 miles away)

Should really trickle charge it. Should be enough to get ya there. Good luck.

whatever you're going to use to jump it...just leave it for 10-15 minutes.
leave your rig off, and let theirs idles.

if you dont need headlights, or heaters etc, it will be fine.

Or you can try swapping it out yourself. It's a pretty simple job with minimal tools. Odd thing, my alternator went out shortly after changing to a new battery also. Not sure what would cause that..
