i removed my boards because i dont use them and when i step in they would get my khakis all dirty. looks better in my opinion. congrats on the buy, the 96-98 have a better approach angle than the newer ones...

yeah, nice car.
I had to go through a '71 Plymouth and a '72 Datsun 240z before just now ending up with a 2002 4Runner. I still have the old cars, my friends love my "classics", but I love power everything and A/C in the new car. Our family likes Toyotas a lot. My mom has a '98 4Runner, my dad's got a '03 Tacoma PreRunner, and now I joined the club. There something there, just love it.
My car came with some off road looking running boards, something tubular.
It almost looks like my car has everything the 4x4 model did with the exception of the actual 4x4. bigger rims and tires, the trim around the fenders, different running boards, different hitch, all looks factory original but different in a way. i'll post a photo later on.

Get some type of mudflap to protect the sides or they'll get beaten up quick.
Nice truck especially for someone who still in HS so enjoy having something reliable which is the nicest thing for somebody that can be spending money on more fun things than repairs. I had a VW Rabbit and lest's just say it's reliability was a little subpar.

lol wow dude ive nvr seen this but its crazy to see wat ur 4runner used to look like when u first got her.

EDIT: HAHAHAHA i actually just read a post about me getting a HOT new cellular device that was one of the first to have bluetooth and how it was awesome because no one had it and it was only shown in iRobot!

I am right now where you were 10 years ago... Would be cool to revisit my 1st posts on here in 2026, if my T4R makes it that long... It's already got 230K, by then it'll most likely be around 300K and beyond!!! I don't know how the previous owners treated it, but it's getting pampered from this point on!
