My 2007 4runner - on Broken Arrow in AZ

I just got back from my vacation in AZ. We ran a few trails two of the most beautiful included Oak Creek Homestead and Broken Arrow. We had a BLAST showing those Pink Jeeps on Broken Arrow that Toyotas are equally capable!

Thanks to Bud (BudBuilt) for the skids and Shrockworks for getting me the bull bar in time for the trip. All of you guys are GREAT! I have a slight trophy on the gas tank skid from the stair steps. Now if someone would finally make a rear bumper to fix that departure angle. Please Jim (Shrockworks) get on this ;) I'll be glad to have one.

My 4runner currently has the Downey Lift w/ 32" BFG's (A 33 spare wouldn't fit with the 7.5Mlb hitch), Downey Rock Sliders (67"), Bud Built Skids, Shrockworks Bumper w/ Warn 9.5xp and 7" PIAAs.

The other white vehicle you see if my buddies 97 Lexus (aka Land Cruiser.) He is stock w/ solid axles front and rear and full lockers the lucky devil! But the ATRAC on the 4runner w/ center lock has proven so far equally capable on all the trails I have ever run [and w/o the typical lack of steering control with front lockers.]

Thanks for posting the photo's. I'm running back there in two weeks. Last time I saw Oak Creek it looked like this:

Here are a couple of what the creek looks like when you get down to the area near the old homestead. The rocky shelf decent wasn't too bad at all. With a stock suv it could be interesting ;) [evident by the scarring in the rocks]. It was the best place to stop and picnic...the weather was great, not too hot and a wonderful place to stop and have lunch. Surprisingly there weren't many bugs around the creek that day. Anway...these were taken along "Oak Creek Homestead trail" on Monday May 26th.

Have you considered the rear bumpers from CBI or 4x4 labs?

Thanks for the info. I figured that if I have to do a custom fab, I would want shrockworks to make the rear so that they match the body lines and look similar overall. From both CBI & 4x4's website it looks like for 4th gen it would also have to be custom fabbed. I'll look more into this a bit later when I can afford to spend more money on the truck ;) Steel is expensive haha.

I'll post more pics of the truck soon. I am swiping stills off the video camera :)

Ok...I pulled stills from the HD camera...but there are too many to go and post every single one here (well I could but it just doesn't seem right). I threw up a couple of quick web pages.

Falls:
Don't hate us because we get out to beautiful places ;) Take your 4runner there...go explore while the trails are open. Plus gas is cheap in AZ. (Well cheaper than it is here in SoCal)

Since you have run Oak Creek homestead before you know about the off camber shelf road heading in. Enjoy!

I think that off camber/ shlef road down to the cabin is more difficult that the the steps at Broken Arrow.

....I didn't expect this...On our next trip I'll have to try to get some even better shots.

As for the difficulty of the shelf road...it wasn't really slippery so traction was pretty good. The road really only required careful wheel placement. Most of the time there was plenty of clearance....but again...the departure angle :)

When I can afford to do more work I'll have a rear bumper fabricated and to improve those departure angles.

That's exactly what I want to do to my t4r. Now I just have to figure out how. Where did you get the Downey lift?
 
I drove by one day and picked the kit up.... You can order their kit by phone and I think performance products sells it as well.
You may want to call Downey depending on the model year you have and verify what will work first....I think the kit for the 07's will still fit the 08's.

I could have sworn I have seen their kit advertised in one of the ads I have received from performance products...I did a quick search and didn't see it but I suppose you give them a call and ask.

I don't personally know anyone with OME's lift so I can't say anything good or bad but I know there are others with it who post to this board. It's something to possibly look into.
