The meet will be Saturday, 25th, June at 9:00am. The run will be from PIONEERTOWN to BIG BEAR LAKE
Difficulty: Easy (Green) and Moderate (Blue) trails with challenging Most Difficult (Black) side trails.

In PioneerTown at infamous Pappy and Harriots parking lot. From here we will take Pioneer Rd til it ends at the trail head and becomes Rimrock Rd.

Route:
Starting out at rimrock/pioneer town north of Joshua Tree,
get onto Burns Canyon rd and head up the mountain( rated as a green circle).
The trails splits off into Smarts Ranch rd.
Take that to its end and onto hwy18 for a mile or so.
Get onto 3N61 (Jacoby canyon rd) rated as a blue square and take it to its end as it intersects 3N16 (green circle).
Head east on 3N16 and turn onto 3N32 (green circle) due north.
Just before it hits John Bull head south west onto 3N07A( blue square).
Take that onto 3N43( green circle) heading west.
Hop onto 3N10 heading south( this portion is a green circle).
Get back onto 3N16 heading east.
Then onto 2N09 due south to its end at Hwy 38 .

Road not fully recommended for 2WD trucks, although you can make it through. pretty rocky in some points (due to road being mostly dry lake bed) and high chances of finding yourself in a situation you dont want to be in. leave for high clearence or 4WD vehicles, although you are welcome to take it on with a 2WD basic truck if u desire.
From the staging area (Starting in Big Bear) there are local trails which you will have to enter to get to the main trail. The Joshua Trail is moderate, while the Vista Trail is for more experienced riders. The Pinyon Trail is the one you will want to take to enter NF 3N03, or Smarts Ranch Road. At road's entry there is a sign stating that OHVs are not allowed to the left. Stay to the right. The road is easy in spots but quite rugged in others. It is also open to street legal vehicles so watch out for oncoming (and sometimes oblivious) traffic on the narrow road.
About seven miles east of Cactus Flats the rocky trail softens and flattens out as you enter a large meadow bordered with a mixed forest of Joshua Tree, pinyon, and oak. There are trails here that make a short stay for localised hiking or riding worthwhile. Smarts Ranch Road (NF 3N03) continues its steady descent eastward for about another seven miles and, as the National Forest land ends, you will see small settlements along the road.It is in this area that the trail becomes Burns Canyon Road, or NF 2N02. To the north, Viscera Springs Road will connect you to the New Dixie Mine Trail.
Much of this final stretch is charred as the result of the fires that swept this region in August 2006. Continue through the burn zone until you reach the pavement. There are signs asking that you stay on the road and not venture into sensitive areas struggling to regrow vegetation.
If you choose to enter the trail from the direction of Yucca Valley, leave 29 Palms Highway from the center of Yucca Valley and head north on Pioneertown Road. Pioneertown was build from old movie sets established here in the 1940s. If you want to stop for a drink or meal, try Pappy and Harriet's. From Pioneertown make a turn on Rimrock Road and follow it until you reach Burns Canyon Road. Turn left. The trail begins where the pavement ends. Any OHV traffic beyond this point is illegal.
If you are coming to the area through Lucerne Valley to the north, take Highway 18 from Lucerne and head south towards Big Bear Lake.
The quickest way to get to Cactus Flats from Yucca Valley is north to Lucerne Valley on the 247, then south on the 18.

Jacoby Canyon is a trail in Big Bear, California. It goes from 3N16 (Big Pine Flat Trail) on the west to highway 18 on the east.
12/09/2013: I drove this trail on 12/08/2013. It is rated as "More Difficult" but I was able to easily drive its length from Hwy 18 all the way to the main trail head off of 3N16(?) in my stock 4x4 Xterra Off-Road.
There were a couple of tight areas, but with some light work from my spotter, I was able to navigate through them with ease, and with no body damage. The trail is beautiful with a lot of turn out areas and places to stop, play and even camp if you are so inclined.
From Hwy 18, the journey is mostly uphill with only a few moderately steep downhill sections, a good opportunity to test my hill descent assist system. It started off on loose rocks, some sharp enough to possibly cause a puncture if you do not reduce the pressure in your tires. I hate changing tires on the trail so I took precaution and brought my tires down to 20psi. The vast majority of the trail can be accomplished in "4-HI", with only 2 small sections where I actually had to engage "4-LO", and it was mainly to get my tires to climb a loose rock. At no point did I have to engage my locker to get me through any obstical. There are a couple of off-camber sections that put a good lean on the vehicle, but nothing dangerous.
The scenery changed quite rapidly through the trail, from desert mountain with lots of loose rocks, Joshua trees and cacti, to pine trees and typical mountain forest settings. There is a lot of good scenery on this trail. I am inclined to come back and do some more exploring along it, and maybe even a bit of camping at some point as well.

3N07A - The Squeeze Highlights

A short trail close to John Bull, this fun little trail offers a very tight squeeze between two large rocks at the Coyote Crag rock formation. If you have a good spotter, you will likely squeeze through with no problems. If you don't, well you might loose a mirror or something worse.
Technical rating: (5-7) Moderate
Rocks frequent and large, 12" and may exceed hub height. Holes frequent or deep (12"). Shelves to 9". Mud 8" deep and may be present on uphill sections. Grades to 25 degrees and sidehill to 30 degrees. Water crossings to 18" and may have strong currents. 1-1/2 vehicles wide. 4WD required. Driver experience helpful.
Bring a lunch, we will be picnicking on the trails
