Was poking around a junkyard today looking for a 4runner, when i came across a barely recognizable Toyota Yaris. The jaws of life were clearly used on it, and the a-pillar had old dried up blood all over it. Stunk like hell too. Pretty obvious someone was seriously injured or killed in it. I noticed this little crumpled coke can of a car had a "biohazard" sticker on it. 2 identical stickers actually. I was curious, and asked one of the dudes who worked there who happened to pass by, what the stickers meant. He simply stated "each sticker means one death." I was pretty shocked. Ive poked around in a lot of vehicle with that sticker, or with "BIO" written somewhere on the vehicle. Obviously people die in accidents, but its crazy to realize that i was just looking at someones last ride.

any cool, or funny stories from junkyard visits?

Did not know that about the bio-hazard sticker...

I saw a couple completely burnt to the ground wrecks at Pick-n-Pull before (not sure what you could salvage from them to be honest.)

Back when I had my old '86 Mazda B2200 I loved going to the junkyard to troll for parts. I had bought the truck from my in-laws as a beater work truck, and it was bare bones. In the course of three years owning it, at a local LKQ I stripped a power steering gearbox and pump, fuel injected head, throttle body and ECU, and better door panels off a group of wrecks and upgraded my poor beast. Super simple to do the swaps, I miss working on that old truck. Never came across a death car that I know of.

IIRC they usually sequester death cars in tact as best as possible until all the civil cases are settled. I saw one in high school that stuck with me. It was a 1965 Barracuda (it was old then) that stopped to pay toll. It got rear ended by someone at high speed and parents and a child were immolated. It had been in the news and my friends and I saw it on a tow lot. It made a huge impression.

I don't have any other stories but here's a great thread. It's extra spooky because of the age of the cars. I remembered it because of the TOE:

Interesting things you've found in cars | The H.A.M.B.

If any of you decide to join and post DO NOT mention any vehicle made after 1964. They have lots of other threads of pictures in junkyards you can find by googling "junkyard site: jalopyjournal"
