Just A Quick Observation

So, i was driving arouind on sat, when i came upon a new taco. I am really not one for pickup trucks, but i gotta say, i want one. It has a nice beefy stance and the front end is diff from the 4runner. The guages inside are the same, but as i was looking at the front bumper, i noticed that the fog lights were recessing in an oval shape in the bumper.

And yes, toyota loooooves the hood scoops but i gotta say, it looked perfect on the taco.

Yes, they look good but the gas mileage on the new loaner they gave me was worse than the 4Runner. Ouch . . .

ToyotaDoodz, so how heavy was your foot with the loaner? I am guessing that it was thru the floor. That def has an effect on the gas consumption. Or so i have been told

Not very. They only gave me 3/4 tank of gas and I drove it about 60 miles and was on fumes.

Was talking to the sales manager the next day and he said he was allocated one for a year and it killed him on gas. His words not mine.

I have no idea what actual mileage was but it sure seemed low. This was the extended cab TRD edition. I liked it in every other way.

And it was only a 6 eh? But isn't it the same engine, with basically the same design. Dont see how the aero package would be that different.

I drove this one in 03. Yes, it was a 6 and candy apple red. Drove very stiff like a truck.

I'd want to try it again starting with a full tank. Not all gages read the same after the come off full.

Yes. They had to keep my new 03 4Runner overnight before i picked it up so they let me have a new 03 Taco to drive overnight. Had 5 miles on it. This was in late 2003.

I have the say the 18 inch tires looked punie on this TACO. I guess there more low profile and more like slicks...

As for ergonomics, the 6 speed shift knob shifted like a carrolla shift knob. It didn't impress me much, even though the mechanical linkage did seem to shift well.

I guess it also felt like a Scion TC. These are the 2 other toyota vehicles I'm currently familiar with. As for the SCION swap, I don't think the stock stereo can accomidate a SCION unit.

The back seats were small tiny little boards, and the front seats weren't really that supple. Call me lazy, but I like being higher up in the Runner

You can't compare it to a 4Runner, you have to compare it to the other mid-sized pick-ups. In that class it CRUSHES the competition. It's bigger, longer, has a longer bed (and a short bed), it has a smaller turning radius, lighter, faster, stops shorter, it does it ALL better then the competition.

As far as gas milage, its rated at 17/21 (same as the 3.4 V6) and has a smaller gas tank then the 4Runner (21 gal.).

I wish I had taken some time off from work so I could drive it more. I'm curious to see what the V8 is capable of, dam break in period.

I will be giving it a detailed cleaning and waxing this weekend. I'll post some pics. We need to get together the weekend after next.

Yea, def a get together is in order. If not to meet up, just to look at the new rig, and smell that beautiful smell. How good is the NAVI.

And i want to see pics of that new color. Haven't seen any around and i am anxious to get a peak.
