Hello everybody! I just bought a new to me 1999 4Runner SR5 4X4 yesterday and decided to join the forum. I know how helpful these forums can be, there's such an abundance of knowledge and experience on here. I've already visited this forum quite a few times to help me decide on what I was going to buy. So yesterday I pulled the trigger and threw down down some cash and picked up a 99 with 262k miles on it. It's in really great shape for the year and mileage. The timing belt was replaced at 210k miles and it's been serviced regularly at a local Toyota dealership. Besides, I'm a technician by trade, so I will be doing all of the necessay work myself. The whole vehicle seems to be stock except for a cheesy radio so I'm pretty happy about that. Any advice on what to check or look out for would be greatly appreciated. By the way, this is my second 4Runner. My first one was a 1987 that was pretty beat up. I didn't have it too long, it needed too much work for a DD. But I've also owned an 82 4X4 p/u, 01 Taco and an 05 Tundra. Many, many years ago I went to school to be a Certified Toyota Technician but was hired by Mercedes-Benz before I finished training so I've pretty much forgotten all about Toyota's and their little issues. So I look forward to checking out this forum and learning all about my new Toy.
