Just Bought 86 4Runner 3,000 miles away; sight unseen!

I just purchased a 1986 4Runner from a guy in Monterey Bay, CA....

I live in Massachusetts! Found an ad on-line.... Talked to the owner... saw a bunch of pictures.... sent some money.... he sent Bill of Sale and Title.... and now I have found a Truck shipper to bring it to its new home... a 3,100 mile journey!!

I am wondering... since this will be my 1st 4runner ever....:biggrin1:. Can I put an inclinometer into it?? also, I have no idea where to get lift-kits (2") or should I get Rancho Shocks?
Its a 4cyl.... automatic, but a mechanic friend of mine may put a standard in it for me...
I also need new wheels..... and tires.....

Any help would be awesome!!!!! To help point me in the right direction....

Truck should be here in about 7 to 10 days!!

While you're waiting for your truck to arrive spend some time Searching the Classic 4Runner section, you'll find answers to most of your questions.
There's all types of "lift-kits" available, as well as wheels and tires.
Spend some time deciding what type of wheeling you want to do before buying anything. Learn what you and your truck can do first.

Wow. I dunno that I'd have the balls to buy a truck without looking at it, hope it works out!

Agree with fourwd1, those are way generic questions with lots of "right" answers. Spend some time browsing the forum, check out some build threads, get your hands on the actual truck , and you'll be able to refine those questions.

Do you know what you want from the truck? What are you going to do with it?

Congrats on the purchase--I hope it all turns out well for you. I bought my last two Runners from a distance and had them shipped to me, so I know where you're coming from. Shipping over 3000 miles has got to be pricey, though (I spent $1100 for less than half that distance, but then South Dakota isn't a common destination, either). Hope she's worth the extra.
