Just got my 4runner. I'm so happy!:D I've been looking for a few weeks now. Sold my vette and bought this one all in less then 24hrs. 94 with 114K, 5spd, 4x4, leather, good shape, new big tires, running boards, roof rack, Reese hitch, moon roof....LOVE THIS TRUCK!! original owner.... $5,000. I think that's a steal!!! Went to Croom for my some testing... not bad. Got stuck in some NASTY mud holes... Won't be doing that again. Spent the morning tuning it up. Most of the tune up stuff is way past due. the cap and rotor are SOOOO worn out. plugs were SHOT. Throttle body was all nasty inside..typical stuff. Got some questions for ya guys...

1- Stock tires are 31"x10.5" (goodyear wranglers). SUCK. What is the biggest size I can put on w/out rubbing.... 33's?? I plan on lifting it 4" in the near future. But will 33's rub now? How much rub? I'm planning on doing a 15x10 wheel too.

2- I'm changing the front and rear axle fluids, trans fluid and transfer case.... (all fluid change)... For the front and rear axles...do I have to run a LSD addative... like in some GM's..your supposed to add 3oz of "Friction" stuff. I'm planning on running AmsOil Synthetic in EVERYTHING. 10W-40 for the engine. So should I add any LSD addative with the Amsoil in the front and rear axles??

Anybody wanna give me some little trick/tips.... I'm listening.

Hey Jason, congrats on the 4Runner. What part of Croom did you go to? Thai and I went to the motorcycle recreation area as well as some of the trails around Withlacoochee in our old CR-Vs several years ago, got stuck in a nasty mud hole on a trail off of S.R. 50 :p I've taken my LX470 through some of the trails in the richloam tract, lots of fun.

I live in Tampa by USF... so we cruised up North on I75, got off on the new 301 exit. (brooksville I think). Head under the I 75 underpass and take a right. PRETY sure we were at the ATV/dirt bike track. I took the main dirt road around and there were no rangers out... so I saw a mud hole.... Mother of god. I got stuck with just my 2 front wheels in the mud. I have some Goodyear wrangler 31x10.5's on there. Obviously they don't work to well. I also saw on the driver's door sill it says the weight of my 4runner is 5,400 lbs!!!!!!!!  No wonder I got stuck in the mud. I had no idea these things weighed that much!!! 5,400!!! I'm probly going to do some 33x12.5's on some 15" chrome aftermarket wheel. Where is a good place to buy stuff for 90-95 4runners... I'm looking for lift kits, wheels, tires, brush gaurds etc. I can only find sites for 96-present type of trucks.

The 5,400 lbs is probably the GVWR, not the actual weight of the 4Runner. I think 4Runners typically weigh approx 4k pounds. My LX weighs about 5,500 lbs and has a GVWR in the high 6k range. GVWR would be the weight of the 4Runner when weighted down with max cargo weight.

I think we were at pretty much the exact same area, I remember getting yelled at by some guy on his dirt bike that we were in an area off-limits to SUVs :p You should check out the "crater trail" next time you're up there. From I-75 head east on S.R. 50. At the first official Withlacoochee State Forest sign (a little brown sign on the right side of the road) turn right onto an unmarked trail and hang on :D Make sure you have some other vehicles go with and bring a tow strap :)

Yeah, GG is right...be sure to bring a tow strap and another 4x4. I got tired of towing GG out of that pit!:D

Hmmm...does this pic ring any bells Thai? :D

Sounds good guys. Is that SR 50 exit North or South of the Croom Exit on I75? CRV....mother of god. Ok, 4K sounds about right for weight. I feel much better now. Any other cool places around Tampa to go offroading...?? I'm looking for just some trails really.

Yup, back in the days, we used to punish our poor Honda CRV.:gaptooth: :bonk: Let me tell you, those Hondas could take a lot of punishment. Sure, we would get stuck, but those thing are well-put together! I had no interior rattles despite miles of punishment...it had 97,500 when i sold it to CarMax.
