i bought a 96 limited 4x4 v6 almost a week ago and i had the timing belt/waterpump/drive belts done at the dealer. now im going thru doing small stuff on my own such as diff fluids, t case fluid, plugs, wires, etc. well i get to changing a wire and i find that the bolt that holds one of the coils on was broken off in the valve cover... i have tried everything to get it out. there is a small piece sticking out still maybe 1/4 in at most. i tried vice grips and heat, just wont budge. so i think easiest thing to do is fond a new valve cover. anyone know where i can get a passenger valve cover? maybe someone has one laying around??

interesting... can you post a pic? And sorry, I dont have a valve cover laying around. Maybe check local junk yards? where are you located?

A pic would help , how hard would it be to grind a couple.of flats on the sides for better vise grip purchase , or maybe soak it in penetrant over night and give it a go, it's tough to say without a pic.
Bolts probably torqued to spec so you'll need a decent force to pop it loose.

Try rock auto or auto parts network , also trdparts is good for oem stuff at a bit of a discount .

don't know anything about the site, and couldn't find much out there, one option might be is to call an jdm engine rebuilder and see if they got any laying around other wise junk yards and stealerships.
my search terms on google were

i havnt, not sure how well it would work in this case. i guess its worth trying before i just replace the valve cover though...

In my opinion, don't waste your time. I've broken enough of those things to never buy them again. It's laughable how easy they shear off. Unless of course YOU didn't break the bolt head off, so you really have no idea how much force it took. If I personally break the head off something myself, an easy out never works. Torch or drill.
i didnt break it off... and i have used an easy out before and if your careful it works pretty well. i think ill try the easy out with a little torch action before i spend the cash and waste the time replacing the valve cover...
