so i decided to get out of my loan on my 06 SE 4X4 and pay cash for a 3rd gen. found a clean 99 Limited 4X4 with 191K on the clock with recent TB/WP work done, the first 75K was serviced exclusively with the Toyota Dealership with all recommended service done and stamped in maint log. receipts for other maint after the next owner as well. after a pre-purchase inspection the only recommendations by firestone was to flush the break fluid and do a front end alignment. it needed tires which i just took advantage over the weekend from DT's $100 prepaid VISA offer and put on new Hankook Dynapro ATM's 265/70/16 and plasti-dipped the badges. it's the desert dune metallic/silver ext color combo with tan leather int. there is a small tear (about 2") on the driver's seat along the stitching which i hope could be re-stitched somehow but it's not very bothersome at this point. need to take the running boards off next. i'll post some pics later this evening.
got to take her camping for 2 days over the long weekend as well and i was impressed with how little the Dynapro's picked up rocks with so much gravel driving i did at the campsite. they also look great imho.
anyways, many thanks to the forum that helped guide my decision (i was thinking about an 80 series LC but after looking at several turds i switched back to the 4R). i don't have big plans for modding. prolly throw some weather tech mats and cargo liner, plasti-dip the wheels and maybe put in a new head unit that has ipod connectivity. i do need to get it inspected in TX as i bought it in OK which does not require state inspections so i may be in for some fun in that regard as firestone did not do any emission diagnostics so we'll see...
