Just bought a 99 Runner!

I work as the fleet & lease manager at Lethbridge Toyota in Canada and have been very fond of the 3rd generation Runner. I have driven quite a few of the 4th and 5th generation but find that they have gone to the "soccer mom" route. You figure that working for a Toyota dealership would grant me with the access to alot of these, yeah not so much. In 3 and a half years this is only the 2nd 4runner in the 3rd gen that I have come across. It just literally arrived this morning and I bought it within 5 minutes of getting here. It is a 99 SR5 package with only 97000 kms (60273 miles). I took these pictures right away. It is getting detailed and put through the shop A.S.A.P. I have been navigating the forums for a LONG TIME and have seen the incredible job some of you have done with your runners. I am planning on keeping it pretty clean, since I am not really an off roader. I am planning on putting a nice stereo system in it. For wheels, I have been talking to my parts department. There are some awesome aftermarket options but I think I may go with 17" black TRD wheels from an FJ Cruiser. The 2 mods I am not to sure about is clear lights at the front and Altezza lights in the rear, maybe I can get an opinion. The other one is the grill, I want to do something with it but I am not to sure.

Welcome to the board and that is a great Runner especially with such low mileage. The 99's have some good updates on them too.
Sounds like you already have a good idea of mods you want to do,make sure to post some pics when you put those wheels on !

Bone stock! That's going to be a lot of fun, congrats!

Imo the 01-02 grilles look the best. There are some good grille mods but I don't think the results are worth the time. Altezza rears are too played out at this point, but maybe you can find some more conservative ones. Wheels and tires will be the best appearance upgrade for now. Fwiw, your emblems on the tailgate are out of place

yeah did you get a car fax i'm just wondering why all of the badging is color correct but all wrong, rear end accident maybe?

not a fan of aftermarket head lights or tails but led upgrades are cool imo.

Yeah I am going to have to agree with you, most of the altezza lights and grill set ups I see just don't seem right. I do want to get clear lights at the front.

I ran it this morning and it was clean. It was a third vehicle for a local couple. I just looked at a 2000 sr5 Runner that is in my service dept and the badging looks the same. I talked to one of our guys that has sold for 15 years and he tells me the badging is different here in Canada.

i own a 1999 limited Canadian import and has been in the family since new, i have none of those badges and never did,... i could be wrong though becuase of the difference in trim levels, like mentioned before that v6 badge is wrong for sure.

The Limited badging is different than the sr5. If you look at all the canadian models in the sr5 trim, they all look exactly like mine.

Congrats and welcome to my new addiction. Great looking rig, congrats. And the rims u r thinking of getting are on my dreamlist but I'm nit sure I can justify spending that kind of $$ on them. Good luck!

Looks nice! You have less mileage than I do on my 98! Haha

Definitely go for clear corners/bumper lenses and maybe a pair of LED tails too.
