Hello all..

I finally took the first step and bought a TRD Supercharger, dynamic tensioner, and TRD boost guage..

My next stop will be a URD 7th Injector kit and upgrading my valve system..

Does anybody have All or most of the above and can run them without the valve upgrade without any issues?

Also does any body in the Bay Area know a good place to get the Valve upgrade?

Thanks everyone!

You should be able to run without the valve body upgrade.

And I don't think you have an EGR, my understanding is that those were on older trucks. That could be wrong though, so hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in.

You can run just the S/C without the valvebody, BUT with the 7th Kit IMHO the VB mod is a MUST.

After 5 hard pulls my transmission was slipping at WOT between 1-2. If you can't afford a VB after all those big purchases shim the accumulators. It will have pretty much the same effect, for just 5 bucks. Also increase your line pressure all the way VIA the transmission line on the throttle body.

Looking at the engine compartments photo in your album, it appears you don't have one. However, call Toyota parts dealer given them your vin number and try to order an EGR valve. If they don't sell it, you no gottie.

Hope this helps.

Looking at doing this also, no hard searches for it yet, pretty good with a wrench but transmissions are magic Houdini **** to me. write up on shimming and raising line pressure somewhere?

How to make a a340 last(56kers take a nap)

That is really all you need for shimming. Only shim the 1-2 and 2-3, the codes are on that writeup.

It took me 6 hours, just be careful with the VB gasket, I tore mine and had to get a new one, not a big deal, but delayed me.

It's not fun, but it's not hard to do

As far as increasing line pressure, go look at your TB, find the line that runs back towards the transmission and unhook it from the TB. Grab a hold with a pair of pliers and pull out the slack, then clamp it down to something. This will only work on 4runners with the mechanical TB

Idk about this... I think one thing to understand is that a built offroad 4runner is not a race car. If one is to simply floor the pedal and hope for max speed, then yes, consider the VB upgrade, but all I did was tighten the kickdown cable, and I've noticed no issues at all. For the few times I felt it slip before tightening the cable, I just let up on the gas a bit at the shift points, but again - I'm not looking for time trials here. I just enjoy the extra power on the low end.

Well, I use the power, so if you are going to use what you just spent thousands on; then I suggest upgrading the VB

Ive also heard quite a few different cases that kind of depends on the luck of the draw with individual transmissions... I've had no issues with mine - other's have had bad slip. I say bolt it on and see what happens. Decide then.

Ok great, I wanted to know so I would know wehter to get the 7th in jector or the other one they have which I beleive is a 6th injector

ok so basically(im bad with engine talk) if I DONT run the 7th injector Id be fine but if I were to get it i WOULD need the valve body upgrade?

I'll give it a shot and see what happens, I don't go WOT very often so I probably shouldn't have too much trouble

TRD vs URD

Can anyone tell me the difference between the trd and urd 7th injector kits? Does it keep the 4runner CA legal?

My uncle owns a shop and brought in a totaled 01 runner, after calling me I came down and talked to the owner, got everything for 900.00..I was hoping he'd have the 7th injector too but he said he never got around to it.

Damn, lucky. Well if he has another one come in let me know...
