Ok, so I decided to crawl under the runner the other day and noticed that the back bottom two "light" housings...HAVE NO LIGHTS IN THEM!
Did I get ripped and just now noticing it or is there a reason why there are no lights in those puppies?

Can you narrow down where you're seeing this for us?

Are they auxiliary lights that someone installed before you owned it? Are they on the running boards?

Slow...narrowed down.

Rear bumper at the bottom of the Runner, both of these "lights" are under the brake light assembly. The lense is red on both of them.
does that work? i hope so.

I believe those lights are only used in the overseas version of the 4Runner as rear fog lights.

You're not talking about the rear red reflectors are you? Similar to those on bikes? Take a picture of what you're talking about.

Yep, that's correct.

There are mods to make them into aux brake lights and such, if you are interested.

+1.. in europe and in other countries, they require cars to have either one or two bright red rear fog lights so drivers behind you can see your car in foggy conditions.. if it is only one light, it is located in the drivers side.. FYI

I had mine painted body color because I don't really like them. Yes, there are reflectors in them, but I also added the '06+ LED tails which actually have built-in refelctors, unlike the '03-'05 tails.

I liked having the rear fogs on my Range Rover.

I agree. We get quite a bit of fog here in Duluth because of the lake and I miss the rear fogs from our A6.

Eventually I'd like to mount one of these under the bumper in the back with a switch so I have that functionality again.

I few weeks back I was reading about that MOd of the rear fog lamps on the rear reflectors....I think is a really nice MOD.....but too much of a hassle for me....so I just bought these..and will be installing them soon...but as back ups....

I would like to get my hands on a set of clear lenses for those and just make them some lights that can be turned on when I am backing up a trailer or trying to get hooked up to one. I like the 63 LED set up too...hmmmm
