Just curious, does anyone else think:

Does anyone else think the difference between high fan speed and the next lower, (#3) speed is too great? On my 05 sometimes I want to slow it down just to lessen the noise but when I do, especially on really hot days, it goes too slow to keep me cool. Is there anyone else that thinks this way? Or maybe I need to replace the blower resistor? Thanks

I agree totally. Everytime I turn the fan to the upper speeds I think there should be one more step in the middle. Maybe there's a mod for that.

I feel the same, Hi blows like a gale force wind, next setting down wouldn't blow out a candle!!

I've never investigated this particular HVAC system, but if it's like so many other cars that I've worked on, there is a resistor unit that steps down the fan speeds. I would bet that someone with a little electrical knowledge and steady soldering hand could figure this out.

I was thinking the same thing. Took a peak on the interwebs to see what it looks like. It's got a nice big heat sink on it. If it comes apart then there's some hope. Can't tell by the pics but I am curious.

I wish it was like the old style that most Japanese cars had. All the resistors were exposed and would be simple to change out one or two to get the desired speeds.

I had a bit of time today so I pulled the resistor pack. It's a sealed unit as you can see from the picture. In reality I don't know if it is really all resistors. The outer wires are heavy gauge but the inner two are not so I don't see any big amperage going through them. It is also labeled gnd, s1, +B and VM so it may not work like I think. Sadly the only wiring diagram I could find does not match my truck. Anyone have a diagram of this? Looking around it seems +B may be battery and VM may ground the other side of the motor at different levels, S1 being some sort of sense circuit. Seems this same pack is used to give a Dodge truck 7 speeds. Intriguing.
