Long time reader....first time poster. Not sure this is actually a mod in the pure sense of the term...but here goes.
Bought a 2005 4Runner Sport, Galatic Grey in May of 2005. Came with the basic 6 speaker non JBL system. Sounded like crap.
Installed a Clarion DXZ655MP head unit, Clarion SIR-CL1 Sirius tuner, and a Clarion APA450 amp. For the speakers I installed 2 10 inch Kicker Solo-Baric S10L54 sub woofers and replaced the stock door speakers with Infinity Kappa 63.7i. Built the mount mods for the speakers out of some MDF I had left from a shelving project.
SOUNDS FREAKING INCREDIBLE!!! Right now the subs are just in an external box, but later when I get more time I'm going to build something a little cleaner.
The head unit has adjustable colors, 728 in fact, and one of them perfectly matches the stock amber color of the instrument panel. Looks great in there. Will try to get some pictures posted if I ever get my digital cam back from my ex wife.
