First post with pictures, so bear with me if I mess it up.
I just had 35% 3M tint put on all of my windows except the windshield. The shop did a good job, but I expected the rears windows to be a little darker since they are also colored from the factory. I wish I would have chosen 20% for the rears. I'll probably leave it alone for a while and eventually get it redone darker. They wanted $210 for Llumar basic level tint and $260 for 3M non-metallic. We haggled a bit and I got a small discount to end at $245. It's a little high, but there's a decent amount of surface area that they covered.
I live in California, so I wasn't willing to go as dark as I would like. Also, I prefer the front windows to be slightly lighter than the rest. I like how it looks and it also keeps a more legal appearance. That being said, if the rear windows are too dark, I think the contrast looks bad and it calls more attention the vehicle IMO.
I stared at a bunch of pictures on this forum trying to decide between 35% and 20%. It really is hard to get a picture that accurately shows the effect of the tint. If I had to describe my 35%, I would say that it increases the reflection of the environment around the truck, but the tint itself is not shiny at all. It's the same effect of really clean black paint. It just reflects more. This makes it harder to see in, which is good. If you look through the truck from one side to the other, you can see everything on the other side, but it's not as obvious. You can see things in the truck if they have another window behind them, but otherwise, no. For example, you could see someone's head when sitting upright, but you couldn't look in and see something sitting on the back seat. I have not experienced the 3M green/red/colored issues. I've had 3M on other vehicles and always been happy with it. Hope this helps others trying to make a decision.
