Just got a DirtyDeeds Muffler Installed on my 4G V6

Hey guys I just got my muffler installed today. So far I'm quite happy with everything! Below are a few pics, talk about a weight loss from the old muffler and resonator, those two weigh a ton compared to to the new muffler. Plus I had the exhaust routed out the side of the truck now too!

The shop that did the install is Discount Mufflers in Tucson, AZ on Ina Road just off the freeway. They charged about $55 for the install and the cost of the tubing that they used.

So the muffler that I decided upon was his 5x12 muffler with no packing in it.

That almost sounds like a v8! Sounds pretty dang good imo...Sounds a little louder and deeper than my super 44 flowmaster from inside the vehicle.
Do you mind letting us know how much you paid as well?

Please! can you do a vid from outside of the vehicle??

That's where I got the idea from BlairB, you were my inspiration!!

Plus when I picked up his muffler I mentioned you, and then he said the one without you had probably burned out the packing by now as he discovered the packing that he used on yours wasn't the stuff that would last.

Other note, the wife thinks it's annoying. She says it's too loud, which when I'm driving by my self usually I'm blasting my music so.... what extra noise? hehehe:biggrin2:
 
Well I'm glad you like it. I've been debating on all different mufflers with the sizes, brands etc. My headers got a nice little purr to it but its still quite cause the rest of my exhaust is factory. Hows the butt dyno?

Well the butt dyno is a bit out of tune, but I think I do have a bit more umph when I pass the slow vehicles on the way to work. I think I am hitting 80-85 passing uphill from 50 mph a bit sooner as I'm getting past the slow pokers!

Plus I love hearing it yell at the slow cars screaming, "YOU ARE SLOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I PASS YOUR SLOW MOVING A$$!!" That's my impression of what the truck is screaming now.

Funny note is today heading to work, I was leaving my neighborhood and getting on the main road. Well the road kind of curves around before straightening out for a while. So on the curve I was getting on it, I think I hit about 55mph on the 45 mph road. Well just as I round the curve I notice what I think is a cop on a motorcycle. Well just about a second later my fuzzbuster starts screaming at me reporting "Laser", I instantly let off and brake gently down to the speedlimit. Well he never took his laser off my truck until I passed him. Luckily he never came after me. Well long story short, I think my exhaust was tellin him I was gettin on it! lol

WAHHHHHH!!!!!! Screams the truck as I get on it!
 
Ugh all this talk about exhaust makes me wanna hack the y and catback and do custom work! I was at APR yesterday installing a X1 on a xrunner and we were talking about doing custom exhaust work to my truck. APR made a custom y pipe for a xrunner but the 4runners y differs alot compared to the X. :( so it won't for me. I did give APR the dirty deeds muffler info both from here and toyota120 so I'll see what he thinks. haha I'll bet your glad you got a cop detector huh?

That's the exact reason why I bought it, too many speeding tickets. I needed that little advanced warning system!
 
that sounds badass! im pretty sure ive seen you around.

oro valley cops are the worst. i recieved a ticket from an ov motorcycle going 7 over. wtf right? tucson usually waits til 11+.

does your laser scare you at first? mine seems like its going to explode when it goes off.


and question, im right down the road from that shop, how would you rate their overall service? and how long did it take them? i have a muffler in the mail and am currently looking for a shop i can trust.

and advantage/disadvantage to no resonator?
 
The resonator for our trucks (1GRFE not sure on the 2UZ) really doesn't do anything other than take up space. Plus we have four cats and a big muffler so sounds won't increase. Now if you ran a 2.5-3 in exhaust with no cats than two mufflers with a resonator will help from droning and sounding super loud though I driven APRs truck and other xrunners and never experienced this. I assume it has to do with my age plus I'm used to race cars. I'd say get rid of it bro.

I have gotten off going about 20 over or OV before, very lucky on that one!
As far as the shop, they did good work, I just need to get back there for him to adjust the height of the hangers as he has it a bit too low. I hear it rattling backing up in my driveway. He said he will fix it, but I have to find the time to get there.

as far as the resonator I just wanted the exhaust out the side which is why I dropped the resonator. now I don't smell the exhaust anymore with the back window down.

20 over in ov? serious luck.
i used to be pulled over by ov doing 15- 20 over on naranja at least once a week back when i worked for carls jr over there on oracle. and i was let off everytime. but i dont find that luck. cause carls jr is where they hang out all the time. i used to give the 50% off. mainly cause im a huge fan of law enforcement. but those freebee days are long gone. :dammit:

I've had some good luck with the fuzz. just always told em the truth why I have been speeding. that time I was in a bad mood and pissed and told the cop about it. plus I was driving the tl which is fun to get on it in!
