Just got Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour today

Hi Guys,
I wanted to let you know that today I just got my new tires installed. I had to move up to 265/70/17 in order to get these tires but I was really curious about how these tires would compare to the original Bridgestone Duelers as far as gas mileage, road noise and ride. They were $169 each at Discount Tire plus $11 for instalation. There is also a $50 rebate from Goodyear. I don't know if this has been mentioned but Goodyear offers a 30 day road test with these tires and if you don't like them then you can return them. Actually, Bridgestone and Yokohama also have this policy as well. I will be traveling to Sedona this weekend, then onto San Diego for the 4th and then back to Albuquerque. That should give me enough mileage in the different conditions to see how well I like them. I will keep you guys updated. Here are some before and after pictures.

Cool...keep us updated with how you feel about them...they are my 2nd favorite all-terrain tire!

Neil , look's much better , how's the tread pattern look , aggressive ?? hard to tell from pic's. Man , your sky's looked a little wicked that day.....
 
I'll take a picture of the tread pattern tomorrow and post for everyone. About 5 minutes after I took this picture it started pouring and thunderstorming for about 2 hours. It was awesome! Took my dog out for a walk right after I took these pictures. I also told my wife that if it started to rain hard then she should come and get me. Well, she had to come and get me within 15 min. My dog was grateful to get out of the rain. Here is a picture from this past winter.

I got about 43k out of the Dueler HT's. I wasn't very consistent with my rotations so I think that cut down the life a bit. I was going to wait to replace them until closer to winter but this unexpected road trip and a flat tire on Monday night changed my mind.
 
Any update on how the GY Wrangler Silent Armours are doing?

My stock Dunlops are dead and am trying to choose between the GY and BFG A/T

i THINK (might be wrong) they offer both 16 and 17 in that style. again someone correct me if im wrong, but thats what i remember
 
Updates???

I'm curious about road noise, snow, traction, and real world gas mileage.

Also, is your dog a Jindo?
 
After reading just about every thread on here devoted to tires (which was an exhausting process), I had 275/70/17 BFG ATs put on my Runner last night. I must say, they look great and I haven't noticed any increase in noise. I drove the whole way home from the tire place (about 20 min) with the radio off just listening to them.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I got back from hunting in CO last Sunday and hadn't checked the board until this morning. I actually took the GY SA back to Discount Tire after my trip to CA. I really liked the way they looked, rode and how quiet they are but my average mpg went down from around 18 to 15 on the highway. I drove about 2500 miles on them and the calculated milage by hand ranged between 13.8 and 16.1. I was doing about 87-89 mph on the interstates and I had never gotten that low with the original bridgestone tires I had on on my 800-1000 mile road trips to CO. Before I left I changed the spark plugs, oil and air filter so everything was running in top shape. I downsized and got the bridgestone revo's in the original 265/65/17 tire size. These are almost as quiet and they ride almost the same so I feel it is a good compromise for me. My milage is back up to the 18 mpg on the highway doing 87-89 mph so I am happy. If milage isn't a concern then I would recommend giving these tires a shot.
 
Updates???

In regards to whether the tires are good in snow, I never got the chance to find out but it did rain from the AZ/NM border all the way to Albuqueruque and the tires seemed to grip the road wet in pretty heavy downfall. They are the quietest a/t tires I have ever had on a vehicle and I thought they were as quiet as the all season bridgestones that were OEM.

As for the dog,
We got him from the Albuquerque Animal Shelter last October and they said he was around 6 months of age and a German Shepard Mix. However, the vet said that he is either Shiba Inu mix and was only 4 months of age. When we took our trip to CA in June 06 we went to the dog beach in San Diego and Huntington Beach. There we say a Korean Jindo dog with an Asian couple and they thought that he was a Jindo because he is about 50 pounds and comes up to mid thigh on my leg. Most Shiba's are 25 pound maximum and just a little larger then a toy dog. So I tell people that he is a Korean Jindo Mix with maybe some austrailan shepard.
