Just got my 97, was wondering if I got a good deal

Hey all,
I'm new to this board, in fact this is my first 4runner. So far everything runs smooth on my SUV. Its got 186600 miles on it, I was a bit doubtful on the buying it, but everyone I've talked to confirms that this car will run forever. Any experts here can vouch for that?? Also, can anyone here let me know if I got it for a good deal? Its a Toyota pre-owned certified 97 4Runner 4x4 and I picked it up for $6600. KBB says the car is worth more, but that is all relevant to gas, market, etc...

As far as that, interior was clean, the wood panel has some sun bleach to it, and the cup holder is broken on 1 side. Exterior has some paint chip, but no rust. Motor runs great, real smooth, 4x4 seems a bit weird to me though. When I shift in or out of L4(neutral), I can feel that gears in the shifter...is that normal?? And it came with the running boards, grill guard, and wind deflectors (windows/sunroof).

Well, its nice to join a big forum and if anyone has any good mods, let me know, I definitely want this run a long time

Nice man. I paid $7000 for my 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 2WD last October. It has 161,000 now. I love it- I wish I could have found a 2002 Black Sport Edition Limited 4WD with no miles on it- yea my dream.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, I got my '96 sr5 limited with 150k for just over $8500 from a dealer, only 1 scratch on it. Nice work welcome to the board.

i can somewhat, i bought my 98 with 180,000 and it ran fine and im now at 201,000.

thats pretty good. i paid almost twice more for my 99 sr5 4x4 with every available option.... mine has 90k miles on it :bigok:

For the record, and by God's grace, I just picked up a super clean, 1997 Limited with 133K miles, for $5900.

All things considered I didn't do to bad getting a 2001 SR5 4WD w/67K miles for $15,000.

I picked mine up from a family friend for $4500, it now has 190+ miles and running fine. I think all these high milage 4 runners are great second or third vehicles.

Got my 99 SR5 Sport 4x4 w/ everything except locker at 116k for $9900. That was last November. Its sitting at 140k and still rocking strong.

After owning my 4runner for 3 weeks now, Only thing I would like to change on my 97 is the headlights (HID conversion), cupholder on dash (pain in the ass), add foglights, and new headunit

I have been really wanting HID but I don't want to loose high beams. I live in Texas and High beams are sometimes a necessity. Espcially on my drives to Georgia. Plus i don't want to have to worry about not passing inspection. I keep reading all hid kits that have the moving shield for highs, break within a few months and have fitment issues. The cup holder, I hate it. Having a drink in there is like some sort of sick waiting game for it to dump out. Been thinking of adding some 6x9's in the cargo area but afriad it would sound crappy and the plastic would vibrate.
