Just got my B&M Supercooler

Honestly, I don't think it matters. Mount it either way, and its fine IMO

I know this thread will probably be argued until we are all blue in the face about it though. :violin:

The big stink right now on these coolers isn't what you mount it with but where you mount it. Specifically how close to the a/c condenser you get it. There are threads out there saying it cools way better if it's butted up against the condenser. So you can use the zip ties or bend the brackets to hold it up against the condenser. There have also been warnings about making the zip ties too tight and bending the radiator and condenser together causing leaks. So be aware of that. I mounted mine the exact opposite of what everyone is saying now. I need to get a temp gauge installed so I can see if it really is a problem or not.

After dealing with the pink milkshake last week, I ordered a B&M Cooler.

All of the threads that I've searched used the mounting bars to mount the cooler as opposed to using the plastic zip tie looking things.

This threadSynergyOffroadForum.com :: View topic - How to: Install B&M Supercooler Transmission Cooler uses the zip ties through the radiator and condenser like the instructions say.

Is there any advantage to mounting using the brackets?

Which B&M cooler did you go with? Just yesterday I upgraded coolers from a Tru-Cool 4454 to a gigantic B&M 70274. Ha, no need to worry about excessive temps now (hopefully).

Personally, I think that mounting using the metal brackets is a better idea, since I've seen the plastic in some zip ties deteriorate after a few years. I would also worry about the zip ties rubbing on the condenser and radiator and causing a leak.

I'm no expert, but that's JMO.

When my brother and I put my cooler on, we made brackets and mounted the cooler about 1 1/2"-2" out in front of the ac condensor. So far so good. I dont really see the benefit of mounting it right next to the condensor.

Supposedly, more air gets pulled through the cooler the closer it is to the condenser.
