Just got my Revos on!

Revos after 1 day:

Because of all the highway (family travel) miles this truck will see I went with the stock size again which was 265/65/17 to squeeze out the best possible mpg. (I know 70s would have looked better.)

The more agressive tread pattern really gives the truck a tougher look even in the stock size.

Traction in the 3" to 4" of snow we have now is great, I am very happy with the way they grip, especially when making a left hand turn through a snow-covered intersection, no sliding at all.

Road noise is suprisingly quiet. I do not notice any more noise on the highway than I had with the stockers. Possibly even less noise actually....after 50,000 miles I think the stocker were pretty hard though.

I did a TON of research before selecting these, they got great reviews and have a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty. Price was right too.

Yeah I got 5 of them, they were $173 / each.

I called a lot of places and checked tirerack and 1010tires and a few other places online but the lowest price was my local TiresPlus.

Honestly, I would have paid more though...tires are one thing I think it's dumb as hell to skimp on. I did my research, found the ones I thought would do the best job of keeping the truck on the road, and then started to shop prices.

The lady who came in after me made me just about laugh out loud. She was hell bent on getting the absolute cheapest tires they could source that would fit her car.

Same here, dont skimp on the tires. Thats why I changed mine out within the first tank of gas when the rig was new. Thats a good price too. You going to use the spare when rotating?

I think I will follow the rotation chart in the owners manual and rotate the spare also. I kind of went back and forth on it... I know even though I may get a little longer wear out of them with 5, I will need to buy 5 again later so it will end up costing me too.

In the end I just figured having a fairly recently purchased spare is worth more to me so I'd rather rotate it in and get it replaced with a fresh one every few years.

I think I paid $180 for the rear tire on my bike and it's like 1/10 the rubber of these so the price seemed more than fair to me.

I had the REVO's on my '00 SR5 and really loved them. I'd air down to about 24 PSI in really deep snow and they were awesome. However, I went with Firestone Destination AT's afterwards and they were as good or better and about $60/tire cheaper than the REVO's, but that was about 2 years ago.

I know it's pretty subjective and there's many variables but how do you compare the two? I have had Revos and loved them. Would I be satisfied with the Firestone? I am intrigued by the Firestone due to great reviews and because I am leaning heavily towards a 255/75/17 size which the Revo doesn't have. Thanks

revos price

i got revos after the stocker dunlops dry rotted like the crap that they are. bought 5 with installation balancing and mounting for $160 a tire. best deal i have seen yet for 265/70/17 revos.

It is difficult to compare, especially when no 2 snowfalls are exactly alike (moisture content changing the consistency, mainly). But I used the REVO's through 2 PA winters and the Destination AT's through 1 before moving to Kentucky. All 3 of those winters I drove hilly terrain backroads 32 miles one way to and from work on plenty of snowy and icey days. Both tires performed very well but my gut experience gives the nod to the Destination AT's for feeling a bit more "planted".

I did the same thing. Picked truck at night and was at the tire store when they opened. All around I've been happy with them. Pro's/con's like everything.

$173 Each?!?!?! Thats pretty good. When I bought mine the total came to $800 and some change, but it cam down to $700 with amail in rebate.

Revos are great! I also got 65 size and I like it, more stable on the hwy and turns. Also relatively quite.

Would love to see pics of how scrunched that bigger tire looks under the front. I want to go with that size but am thinking of doing the Daystar budget boost 1" (2") up front to give it a level stance. Thanks!

Scrunched? The 70's are only 1" in diameter larger which equates to an additional 0.5" more tire filling the wheel well. I don't know about your 4R, but with my stock 65's I can put a small child inside my wheel wells...

Well I guess I am referring to the 2.5" difference from the rear to the front = rake. I have a 2008 Tundra that I leveled with a spacer and put on Nittos and it took that factory rake stance away, loved it. IMHO the factory 4Runner looks squashed in the front already. To each his own!

Same here - I replaced a set of BFG A/T KOs (70s) with the REVOs in the 65s - which I SHOULD have gotten in the first place. The best price I could find on them was at Tires Plus - I practically named my price. I told him he was high, he said "where do you want to be?" - I named a price and he said OK. I think I should have named lower...

But I have to agree - they are worth the price.

Thanks for the pics! DO you get any rubbing from the 70's? Also how bad will it hurt my mpg's? I like the bigger look. Thanks
