Just had my first Silverstar bulb go out...

After 3 years in the truck and using silverstars in other vehicles, I finally had my first go out on me. I know some have had issued with the longevity of them, but after buying some 8 sets or so, they have not let me down.

How are these bulbs compare to PIAA super white H11?

I've been using the Silverstars and now the Ultras for years. My 3rd gen "ate" them a bit more often since the DRL's were the headlights, running them at about 40-50% whenever the engine was running. They're a lot cheaper then the PIAA, IMO. I've revently bought 2 pairs of Ultras on ebay at about $28/pair with no (zero) shipping charges.

I second that, and Silverstars dont come in H11 last time I checked. The PIAA's are what $60+? Thats damn near halfway to an HID kit.

Never really had much trouble with the Silverstar lineup with the exceptions being the dual filament bulbs (H4, 9007, etc.). Those bulbs I usually stick with the cheapest types.

But the price some of the bulbs out there, you might as well just spring for an H11 HID kit.

well as soon as the rest of my bulbs let out...i had SS's then swapped over to the SS ultras. Once all my bulbs are gone, im going to step up to someones HID kit

I have been using silverstars for about 2-3 years now and they last only about 1 year, maybe a bit more. I leave my headlights on all of the time, so that is probably why. I love the look of HID, but I am uncertain how to go about converting from stock.

Its pretty simple to do...I did it on my old celica and even got whole new headlight housings since I wanted black housings and it only took about an hour to do both...Its just splicing wires and crimping (or soldering) them back together. Once you do that you just mount the ballast somewhere and its just like replacing a normal bulb.
