Just picked up a 2003 Limited V8 4x4 Black with Tan heated leather seats. Has window sticker listing options as JBL Synthesis 10 speaker stereo, tilt power moonroof, X Reas, Curtain and side curtain airbags, rear spoiler, DRL's, carpet mats. No leaks and in awesome shape for 93k. Lookin at either 5100's or Icon Stage 1 setup. I will put on Duratracs but am at a total loss for what wheels to go with. Can I go smaller than 17's? If not any suggestions? Cant wait to explore Northern Az in the snow this winter. Awesome rig.

I got my hands on a stock 05 SE V8 w/62k and cant wait to get'er out when it cools down a bit.

Check out the Southwest forum. I think there is a whole 3-4 of us on there from AZ :shrug:.

There is one member going out this weekend to Butcher Jones with a few other non-4Runner buddies. Im still waiting on "permission" from the fiance to go out and play :shrug:...........................

Man your rig sounds just like the one I bought only with a few less miles on it. About 2 weeks ago I got a 03 limited v8 4x4 with 106k. You are also going after the same tires I have for mine. I had a Tacoma before I got the runner and stripped it before I traded it in. Kept my TT ULK lift and 285/75/16 Duratracs.

As far as going from 17 to 16"s I have been asking the same questions and looking into it, from what I have read some of the limiteds came ith larger calipers so 16s wont fit unless you grind the caliper. I took off my front wheels and it looks like mine came with the smaller calipers cause my 16s fit, but they are pretty damn tight. If you have the smaller calipers you should be GTG.

Thank U. I cant wait to start my new lil project. Yes Az group sounds good to me as im in Glendale. Slight lift and new wheels and Duratracs. Just love this Rig man. Black paint in great shape. Wheels are my biggest challenge. Stickin with 17's. Thought about 18" factory wheels. So many nice wheels just so hard to choose. Need suggestions. This site is gona help me build my rig so thanks in advance for all the help. Northern Az this winter will just kick ass.
 
I have narrowed down my suspension to Icon stage 1 or 5100's and Fj springs. I heard FJ springs are gettin hard to find. Is that true? Can I keep the X Reas with Icon or just 5100's or just ditch X Reas all together. Tires I may go with BFG A/T's as they make a 275 70 17E. Duratrac's dont seem to be offered in that size. Any thoughts? The pink tails are the 1st order of business. Yuk. Blacked out headlights. My JBL 6 CD changer has CD'S stuck in it so that is 2nd. Not sure what to do there. Is the factory NAV worth the investment? The timing belt and waterpump before New Years with 94k. The V8 is worth it. This site kicks ass. Thanks for any help and advise.
 
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've got some nice mods planned.

I've read the factory nav isn't worth the price and most people just go with aftermarket. I thought about the factory nav but decided on a kenwood dnx-9960 and it's sweeeeet.

Also, a lot of limited can run 16" wheels, mine has the smaller calipers as well. 16" tires are decent bit cheaper, especially if you move up to 33s.

I've done a lot of the same stuff you plan on doing and I love it but be careful, it gets expensive after a certain point..

If you think you want Icon, I would probably go with Icon. I have the 5100s and FJ springs and I like it but I plan on switching to adjustable COs before I buy tires again. Now I kinda regret spending the money on what I have just to resale.
 
Is there a way to I.D. the smaller calipers? Stamping anything. I would prefer 16" wheels.

Aren't the larger calipers only on the larger rotors that the Sport Editions have? I didn't think the Limited's had them.

So there a large price/purpose difference between ICON and the 5100/FJ combo. Yes, FJ springs are harder to find due to many 4Runner owners using the springs to add lift and stiffness to stock setups.

If you are looking for a better on road ride that you can use offroad, 5100's might be the way to go. But if you want a suspension made to perform both on and off road very well, then I would take a serious look at ICON. I know its not one of your choices, but if you do step up to coilovers, take a look at the Overland Warehouse set up. You will have to remove XREAS completely with either option you have listed.

You are correct, Duratracs do come in that size. Both tires will do fine in snow. One feature i do like about the Duratracs is that they provide more bite on the sides and have wider voids between the lugs that can be cleared by blipping the gas if it gets deep.

Factory nav is nice but you can get more features for less if you go aftermarket.

Limiteds could have either size where as SR5 only get the smaller size and Sports only get the larger size.

Some Limiteds have the bigger rotors. But there is no guarantee. Seems like the Limited rolled off the production line with whatever was available in the parts bin. SR5 definitely had the smaller rotor, while SE had the bigger.
 
Just got a quote for timing belt, water pump, Upper and lower rad hoses, for about $800+. Will get that done real soon. And being tired from goin on about 2 hours sleep I forgot to ask where the stamping is to I.D. calipers. Man I would love to run 16"s but won't get my hopes up. V8 probably means bigger rotors. Just gona replace the stereo. Dont know if its worth rippin apart the dash as I learned from registering at Toyota Owners the previous owner had it in 2 times for the CD jamming issue. Stealership ordered a new one but I guess he never went back to have it put in. Go figure. Getn ready to order my LED Tails. Loookin at Burtman blacked out headlights to go with black paint. Retint windows as AZ heat in summer blows. Gota lower temps inside during summer months. Love the V8. Now lets get some Snow in Flagstaff this winter and have some fun.
 
The stamping will be on the side facing away from the wheel. I have the same year limited v8 and I have "WG13" I just installed my 16's a few days ago :cool:
