Lugboot's '15 Trail Updates and Pics
Hey, everyone,
I've been lurking and reading here for awhile now and this has been a great place to get info on the 5th gen 4Runners, leading us to now owning a 2015 Trail in Barcelona Red...in our possession for less than 48 hours at this point! We opted for the Trail so we'd only lose one diff lock in the process of modernizing.
We parted with a locked 1995 Land Cruiser and a 2000 VW Eurovan in the process. Was really sad to see the Land Cruiser go, but the Eurovan couldn't disappear fast enough. I think I could have filled the cursed thing with the amount of money we dropped into it.
It's pretty cool to notice some of the continuity between a 20-year old Cruiser and a new 4Runner--some of the controls are already second nature since they haven't changed! On the other hand, the Runner is way more spacious inside than the Cruiser was, especially in the front seats. I've seen people on here complain about the interior space in these things, but man, they should climb into an 80-series for some comparison!
I read the tongue-in-cheek 4Runner Naming thread and had to laugh. My wife names our vehicles--she gets pretty attached to them and almost cried a couple times when she knew the Cruiser was leaving. Anyway, she's already dubbed the 4Runner "Journey" and NOT FOR THE BAND! :guitar2: since it's going to be the road trippin' machine.
Planning to run it pretty much stock for awhile...except that I'm jumping on the OPOR slider GB to replace those factory running boards! There will definitely be some changes, like getting rid of that silver trim, new tires, probably a 2" lift, LEDs, etc...right now just enjoying the first new vehicle I have ever owned!
I know, I know--shut up and post pics!
Here's the Land Cruiser in happier times, AKA the War Wagon, the WAV (Weiser Assault Vehicle), or if you're feeling huggy, Trucky-Poo.
