Just Ordered 5100's!!!

Called Wheelers, they are on the way! $385 shipped. I'm pumped to get them and install them. I already have FJ springs on the rear and love them, now to tear out the XREAS and get the slight lift I've always wanted.

Anyone interested in the XREAS?? I will try to keep it all intact and disconnect at the right place if they are worth anything. If they are worthless I'll tell the shop to rip it all out and chunk it.
I'll have pics when it's done, maybe as soon as first of next week!

By the way, the guy I talked to at Wheelers was great, seemed to really know his stuff.

bilsteins are awesome. i like it even better matched with stiffer eibach springs and OME 895 rears on my rig. 3/2 is the ideal lift.
 
Looks like I'll go with the .85" setting. ARK_SWAMP_RIDER says it will be 1.5"-1.75" lift on the front w/ the extra weight of the V8. Should be perfect! I'm not looking for quite as much as a 3/2, but will enjoy the taller look. Heck, I might even get a set of BFG MT's in 255!!

You will love them! I just did mine a few weeks ago. I ripped out XREAS and tossed that crap in the trash. Here is what mine turned out to be like:
2005 SportEdition
2wd
v8
FJ Coils off a 2007 FJ with 26K miles on them
Bilstein5100s set at 0.85"
Before measurements:
Front Driver 33 7/8" Front Passenger 33 3/4"
Rear Driver 35 1/4" Rear Passenger 35 7/8"
After measurements:
Front Driver 35 7/8" Front Passenger 35 7/8"
Rear Driver 36 3/8" Rear Passenger 37 1/8"
I ended up gaining a little over 2" in the front and 1.125-1.253" in the rear.

I've not seen any numbers from 4wd v8 owners on lift, but based on what I've seen from other lift setups the 1.5-1.75" range should be fairly accurate, but that's just a guess. Gonna look great when done, can't wait to check it out as I'm considering them for mine as well!
 
just know that with that type of conservative lift, you'll still sit lower than a stock range rover sport, lexus gx and a good number of other "trucks". in my book, lame is the definition of this.

i don't know why toyota sent so conservative with the ride height on the 4th gen. they did it right with the 3rd and 5th.

Agreed it's not the tallest in class, but I'm not looking for an extremely modified look, just a bit taller. Plus, with the 1.5 from the shocks/springs and the 1/5" or so from running a 265/70, I'll have better clearance than a stock Tacoma which is good enough for me. If the 255 BFG's I found a while back are still available for $550 out the door, I may even switch to those, which would be another 1/2" or so. I'm not a hardcore offroader, but do have a cabin in a remote area, and need to play in the mud from time to time duck hunting.
Your ride looks good, but it's not what I'm going for. Thanks for the replies!

cool dude. i thought along the same lines, but eventually ended up with the 3/2. my truck is an urban bruiser. it looks downright conservative my setup esp with the non-MT tires.

Yeah, I can't wait. I'm waiting on my tracking number from Wheelers.
I also called my local shop, they are trying to figure out how much the swap will run me.
I used my estimating software I use for work and looks like just to replace the shock alone is right at 1 hour per shock. That is for the XREAS, so I'm going to try to get them to do it for $250 that will include removal of all the XREAS lines and such. Should be doable. If it's much more, I may be calling ARK_SWAMP_RIDER and turning on the heat in the garage!!!
 
No need to waste too much money on it, all we need is a day off and we can pretty easily nock it out. If you don't care let me know what they want to do the swap, mainly for curiosity's sake but if the results are what I'm expecting I may be placing my order soon.
 
I'll let you know. I agree, after doing your front, we could knock it out in a half day, but I'm not so sure I want to! We'll see, maybe it will warm up a bit and I'll get a wild hair. If not and if the shop is ok on price, I'll have them do it.

What part numbers for the adjustables front and rear is everyone using. I'm assuming they are the same as the FJ.

Previous T4R owners report they are the same as the FJ:

Front - Adjustable Part# F4-BE5-C475-HO

Back - Nonadjustable Part# F4-BE5-E703-HO

Note: Some suppliers offer the same parts through a reseller who may change the part numbers. Sorry I don't have that number, but you may want to do a search and see if you can find it in case you're work with a company getting their 5100's that way.

Those are the numbers, they transformed my 4R.
 
I was hoping the shocks would be here on time by the 5th. I got an "exception" email from UPS for winter weather. Maybe they'll make it thursday and I can have them installed Friday. We'll see!

I paid $246 to remove all XREAS and install 5100's amd FJ coils all around. It took 3 hours exactly.

Thanks, I'll pass that along to the shop. I"m heading up there now to get the price. They wanted to see my vehicle in person. That's about what I found as well.
