ya its considered a "universal muffler" meaning that it will fit a variety of different cars. This one fits our 3rd gens because of the 2.25" inlet and outlet diameter so it will still fit with the stock pipes like i'm planning on doing.

i sure hope so! now i just gotta wait till my tax return comes in so i'll have money to install it. lol

Sweet! Nice find! So 88101 is the right model? I was doing research on the vortex awhile back, and didn't know whether 88101 is the right one, or 88100 is the right one.

ya the one i bought is center in offset out and it has the proper (or at least closest to the metric size) diameter that the stock pipes have so it should match up just fine. at least thats what i'm hoping! hahaha.

Great! In for one, gonna buy mines right now too. Bret, if u find a place in SD that can install mufflers for cheap, let me know! I'll do the same!

Well i think i'm going to take ine to Prestons Performance. I need to call them up first and see how much they will charge just to cut out the old one and weld in the new one. But i'm call up Midas and a few other shops to get their prices too. I'll let you know what all the prices are when i find out. But i really like how Prestons deals with their customers so i'm prolly gonna end up going there.

Keep that factory muffler. Stuff it away in storage or something.

The vortex is a rather loud muffler and if you should ever decide to remove it, factory mufflers can only be installed along with the entire back exhaust system ($800).

Keep it so you can swap em if you get sick of the screams.

yeah he has a good point. My Dynomax fell apart internally and I have a small exhaust leak (not enough to make me fail emissions, since I know the right people :D ) after using the muffler since about March 2007. My next mod will be the Jardine system

You won't regret it! I just got mine installed last week and I love it. Found a shop that did it for $20. And yeah, tell them you want to keep your stock muffler.

Stay away from Meineke. They will rip you off.

I got lucky with my stock muffler. I was in the parking lot about to leave when I decide I should keep it. Thank goodness.

Why thank goodness? Have you since needed it?

Yeah, stay away from Meineke. I can thank Clemson for that tip. Just go to yellowpages.com and search for "mufflers" and call around for a good price quote. Should be able to find something pretty cheap, around $50. I got lucky finding a place for $20 but it really shouldn't be that expensive, seeing as they just have to weld off the stock muffler and put on Vortex, plus a little bit of extra tubing. Only takes about 20 mins.

Nah, but if I ever sell it and the buyer doesn't like it, I don't want to have to spend $800 on a new exhuast. :)

You got a heck of a deal too.

Yeah I held on to mine, just don't really have anywhere good to put it, it's sitting under my deck for now  Need to find another, safer spot for it.

Yeah when I went in and asked how much it would be and they said $20 I was just like :awais: I was expecting to pay like $50-60.

Midas put my vortex in with larger piping back to a big tailpipe for like $120.

I would definitely search for places like "The Muffler Shop" or "The Muffler Guy". They always seem to be much cheaper.

WOO HOO! So i just got my muffler today and i'm getting it installed and Prestons Wheels and Tires for $42.50

i'll post a vid of how it sounds once i get it installed but here's a vid i did with my camera phone of my car stock so i can do a comparison on how it sounds with an aftermarket muffler.

it sounds a little baffled so i think i'll try doing it again with my camera instead of my phone but here it is in case you wanna hear it. lol
