Hey just got my 96 runner after waiting 17 years. I picked her out in 97 for my grandparents when I was ten, unfortunately I preferred red paint over 4WD... They were letting her rot away so I picked her up for a cool ten bucks : ) She was covered in mildew but thankfully my grandpa was a stickler for maintaining his vehicles. With some love Ive managed to bring her back to lookin pretty good. Lots of memories in the old girl and hopefully many more to come. Glad to be a member here now and Id like to thank you all for the info Ive gathered already. Sure there will be more as I get her the way I want her!

Yeah,i took that a couple of years ago.

Hello and welcome. Have to say that is a pretty unique color. Don't see too many red 3rd gen runner running around in California.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Glad to see im not the only one from awesomeville. Runner has 150000 on the clock. Took a lot of buffing to get her shinin any. Also took out the interior dash pieces and removed that fake wood junk and sprayed them black. I also had to repainte the hood. I sprayed it cardinal red and it matches pretty close. Shouldve bit the bullet and sprayed the whole rig. The plan is for a 4WD conversion, got most of the parts sourced but not sure when ill actually get around to doin such a big job. Maybe ill have my own build thread and be cool like everybody else some day!

OP

Did you mention if she is locked or not? I'm not sure if 2wd get the locker.
That might be a good mod to start off with first, while you collect all your parts for 4wd. You'd be amazed how far having the rear locked will get you while having fun off road. And as long as you are reasonable with your limits, you won't be getting in to deep and need rescuing! But if you do need rescue, we have a hotline for local help! I think it's in the "general" threads.

Does your 4Runner have leather? That would make ours identical clones. 1996 was the only year for that color as well. Mine was purchased by my dad in Atlanta back in 1996.

Thanks for the invite! Unfortunately im on call 24/7 and cant have a life with my job. Maybe on the next one I can take a few days off and see how to spend my money properly! Yall have fun up there.
Not sure what diff is in her since it was replaced a few years back. Cover has 3n stamped on it though.

T4R2014 yep shes leather. Tan. Back seat is mint but the front seats are shot. Plannin on some black okoles to cover them at some point. My runner was purchased in gainesville. Wonder if they went down the assembly line together...
