Just Seafoamed my 2002

My 2002 has 97k and was idling high. (Around 1000-1100 rpm) So I decided to run some Seafoam through the PCV. I slowly fed about 40% of a can in it and shut it down. Waited 7 minutes and fired it up. It billowed whitish-blue smoke for about 5 minutes. I then put 40% in again and shut it off for 20 minutes. Upon firing it up I drove it on a remote street and felt like James Bond with the smokescreen. It had me laughing the whole way. olice: After about 2 miles and some aggressive accelerating, the exhaust was back to clear. The idle is now back in the 800 rpm range. I dropped another can of seafoam in my gas tank with half a tank. (3 cans were $20 at O'Reilly's) I don't expect much it terms of cleaning the fuel injectors, but figured it was worth the $7 to try.

Overall, I am very happy to have the idle back down. The process was super easy and would have been worth the $7 strictly for the entertainment value of driving around with a smokescreen.

I've been wanting to Seafoam mine but I just changed the plugs. I hear it's known for fouling plugs.

Hey Volley, IIRC you don't really have to worry so much about your plugs from an oil treatment, moreso with the engine/pcv valve style treatment. However, I do believe they recommend you have an oil change done within 2 - 3 weeks after you do the oil treatment.

The can says you can use it long tern in low quantities a maintenance

Yeah. I had read about people running it through the brake booster vacuum... I'm glad I chose the pcv. I'll check my plugs in a week and change them if needed. It might be a good time to put in some new wires anyway.

Just an update: I checked all my plugs and added the NGK blue wires 3 weeks after Seafoaming the rig. The plugs were clear and my idle remains normal. No fouling and no issues. Overall, I think that for under $10 it can't be beat. My fuel economy has been better, but more time will be necessary to tell why. If your idle is high or your engine runs rough, try a can of Seafoam.

Or use the Seafoam once and then use a can of BG's 44K once a year and never have to repeat the Seafoam process again.

I've been thinking (uh-oh). Before I switch over to Mobil 1 I think I'll seafoam my engine right before the oil change. 3rd through the brake booster hose. 3rd through the engine via the oil cap. And a 3rd into the gas tank.
