Just test drove 2003 SR5 V8

HOLY ##$^@%@& !!!! I cant believe I havent owned one of these vehicles before. This truck was 4 years old with 61K and drove like a new car. V8 is AWESOME!! I would not want the V6. Ride is great, no body lean in turns!! I cant say enough!! I cant wait to get my hands on one!!!!!!

It's the same V6 now, they just use different SAE ratings, that's why there is a # difference.

IIRC, approximately a second in 0-60 and 1/4. It's not that the V6 is slow, the V8 is just damn quick.

In 2005 the V8 got a 35 HP bump from VVTi with higher compression and the V6 got the 5 speed auto trans. The current V8 is quicker then the V6.

I guess I probably should drive the V6, but the V8 was sooooooo smooth. You could barely feel it shifting. In my past experiences with domestic vehicles I feel its the torque that really made the most difference in daily driving. taking off from stop lights, passing, feeling that power from 2000 to 4000 rpm's is awesome.

Seriously, if I did a lot of towing/hauling, I'd get the V8 for sure. But then again, the Tundra would be better matched to haul/tow. If not, I don't see any reason why a V6 wouldn't fit the bill better--better MPG, cheaper to maintain, insurance, etc. Plus, when it snows, you can go donut crazy in a parking lot.

I drive a F-150 ext. cab 4X4. When you go around corners all of your stuff slides to one side of the truck. Its an 02 with 70K and rides like it has one foot in the grave. I am done with domestic garbage.

I have a '03 with a v8 and I love it. I think the torque is what I like best. As stated the acceleration is super smooth. I test drove a new tacoma with the v6 and didn't think it was as nice. Just my 2 cents, I know this has been discussed many times here and I am not trying to start this up again. Though I agree if you are not towing the v6 would be fine. Which ever you pick at least you are driving a toyota! :bigok:
