Just Upgraded!

Hi All-

I joined many moons ago with my 2000 3rd Gen 4Runner. It now has 200k miles. I just bought a new 2021 Off Road Premium with KDSS, Moonroof and running boards.

It was a tough fit in the garage. Had to do a fair bit of rearranging and throwing away, but we managed.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of research and reading on this forum in the future.

Coming mods are the center console tray, glove box organizer (Amazon) and the cargo cover and all weather cargo liner (toyotapartsdeal).

Next up are the blacked out emblems and TRD Pro wheels in matte gray.

Yup. It's a behemoth! Compared to our old one (also black), it's gargantuan. It's a Mini-Me and a Mega-Me!

My 3rd gen fit in the garage with a rooftop ski box. My 5th gen does NOT. Unfortunate for the winter.

But my girlfriend is happy, so...... :thumb3:

I have the CarTrimHome electric folding mirror kit on my dining room table for future modification. Not pulling apart any plastic pieces when it's this cold. Will be helpful for the garage.


The center console tray should be standard from Toyota. Just got one this week. I don't want to say it's my favorite "mod" but it definitely changes the functionality of that cavern, and cleans up my center console cupholders and etc.

Just did a side by side comparison with both of them in the driveway. The 5th Gen is definitely longer, but not by huge margins. It's taller, but just a skosh. It is wider. I haven't measured at all, but it does seems that there is more ground clearance in the 3rd Gen? Might be an optical illusion.

The center console tray should be mandatory. I really like the way they did a top lid section and then a bigger space below on the 3rd Gen. Much more functional.

It's not that cold. It was beautiful and sunny and mid 60's out here on the Left-Coast! LOL!

Been shopping for the anthracite gray TRD wheels. They're a bit spendy. Maybe that'll be in the Plan B set of mods for 2022 or beyond. We'll see how things go.
