Hey, I just signed up over here after guesting it for a couple days while I researched 4Runner's.
Currently I drive an '04 Toyota Camry LE (nothing special) but I play scenario paintball and that typically consists of driving through some hairy terrain, and also carrying lots of stuff while doing it. So I was looking at trading in my camry and getting an '05 V8 Sport edition but I had a couple questions.
First off is gas mileage - not a problem in camry get about 425 per tank (18.5 gal) in city driving only, highway I can get 525-550 if I watch my speed. How much worse (realistically) is the MPG in a V8 Runner? I only ask because of these trying times with the gas prices that are currently residing at $2.51 for 87 octane. Yet another question is as far as dealer pricing on such a purchase.
I've already spent several hours at some dealers feeling them out (and the vehicle too) and I figure the invoice price on my ideal vehicle is $26,100 or so. So add in tax, title, license, etc. and I figure about $29,000 is a fair price, but of course I'm doing a trade in and I would want $14,500 minimum for my trade so that would mean a check written for the sum of $14,500 written out to the dealer. Does this sound like a good deal? I'm confident I can get them to do it as I do not need a new vehicle and I'm more than willing to walk away if need be. That and this area has 5-6 toyota dealerships so it is quite competitive for them. What do we think here?
