picked up some MetalTech Rear Lower Links a couple months ago and they've been sitting in my room since, finally had some time the other day to install them.
Tip: don't jack the car up when youre installing. if you jack the car up, you need to ratchet strap the frame & the axle to make sure they dont move away from eachother. by keeping the car on the floor, there's no need to use ratchet straps and it makes the install so much easier.
One of the links came out of the box with the nut very stiff and made it very tough to install. other side was much easier. but all in all, a very simple installation. just make sure you measure the holes before you try installing!
comparison with stock, these things are MUCH beefier and heavier than the OEM ones

picked up some LCA Skids from Bay Area Metal Fab back in June. Told him I'd come in to get them installed there...and 8+ months later, I finally had some time to go into the shop to get them installed. Also had him do a body mount chop as well (more on that later...)
the battery was disconnected while he was working, drove home seeing this, don't think I've seen this high of a number since I first got the car...

Nice they look good! It looks like they changed the design of the BAMF logo on the LCA skids? I'm patiently awaiting for my LCA skids and Kickout sliders i purchased form the Thanksgiving sale :hungry:

sure seems like it, i recall a few i've seen in photos have had the logo raised on an additional piece of metal, these were just cut out and see through.
im sure you'll get your's soon enough! jerry and his team looked like they were working endlessly to get out as many sliders/LCA skids out as possible

Yeah thats what i remember too, i like the new logo though looks good!
Its all good you have to expect a little bit of a wait with those types of big group buy sales,, nothing wrong doing a little waiting for a great product :thumb3:

my car got taller!
A buddy of mine with a 5th gen was looking for some new tires and it just so happened that he was looking for 275/70R17, the same size I had. I always knew I would up a size the next time I needed new tires but when this opportunity came along, I figured this could speed up the process of upgrading so I jumped on the offer and he agreed.
Sold the 275/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor ATs to get some 285/70R17 Hankook DynaPro MTs
Side by side comparison of the tires
In preparation of the new tires and expecting to rub more than I already did, I got a body mount chop at BAMF a few weeks ago and also ordered a 4Crawler 1in Body Lift + Radiator Drop Brackets
The tires and body lift has been sitting at my house for about 2 weeks now. I tried installing at a friend's house but realized the jack wasn't tall enough so a buddy of mine offered to open up his auto shop after hours to help me out with it.
So on Monday, following the T120 DIY, I did as much preparation for the body lift as possible at home. I took the front bumper off, ripped apart the interior to get access to all the body mounts at home, and flattened the spare tire bracket. I figured I'd do as much preparation at home as possible to save some time at the shop.
On Tuesday, we installed the body lift and he helped me mount & balance the new tires, as well as get an alignment. We started at 7pm and didn't finish til around 1am, after ordering some food and smoking a blunt, didn't leave the shop til close to 2am. The body lift itself took about 4.5 hours, not bad considering neither of us has ever installed a body lift. Mount, balance, and alignment took about another hour and a half or so.
Car going up on the rack!
The alignment rack made jacking the body off the frame ridiculously easy.
Everything installed & alignment done!

Went on a run at Frank Raines OHV in Patterson, CA with a few friends.

My wish-o-meter ranged around 14.5-15.5 mpg with the all terrains. After putting on the hankooks, it's actually INCREASED to around 16 mpg. But I've only driven about 300 miles on them, vast majority of which have been freeway. I live in the city so I'm expecting that mpg number to go down a bit as time goes on.
HOWEVER, the increase is probably the direct result of changing out my spark plugs and cleaning air filter/MAF sensor the week before. But still, 16pmpg aint bad at all for MTs.
As for road noise and handling, definitely louder than my silent armors, but silent armors are rated one of the quietest ATs available, so I was already expecting the MDs to be quite louder than the ATs. Steering wheel seems just a bit "heavier" compared to the ATs and the gas pedal seems just a wee bit more sluggish, which I'm going to assume is because of the added weight of the MTs. but since you already have MTs, I doubt it'll be a huge difference
If you noticed, I never had any "muddy" pictures when I had my ATs, now with the MTs, I'm able to play in the mud with everyone else and I couldn't be happier about it.
All in all though, I like the look of the MTs and will most likely get MTs again for my next set of tires (whenever that may be).

My MPG meter is reading 18.8 at the moment...but my last tank has been all highway. In the city it usually reads about 14-15. I think the combination of the weight and added rolling resistance, with the stop and go nature of city driving is what rapes my milage. Lol. But like you said, it's nice having the confidence in your tires to take it through mud and all sorts of other stuff regular tires can't handle. I've never gotten even close to stuck with my MTR's, just weighing other options for when it comes time to replace them. :thumb3:

holy shit, 18.8? I dont think I've seen those kinds of numbers since I bought the car! and even then, it wasn't nearly that high!
I did a bunch of research on tires before eventually deciding on the Hankook DynaPro MTs.

Ive been reading 18.8(city and hwy here) on mine as well. But after this past week of towing a trailer it has gone down to 16.9-17.5.

to complete my set of deflectors, I picked up an OEM bug deflector off of ebay, it arrived on thursday and i had a chance to install it today!

So I ended up buying an "eBay Special" 30" LED Light bar. I found a seller on eBay that is locally in California and offers a 2 year warranty on their lights, needless to say, I was sold! Yes, I know build quality and customer service and all that other stuff isn't on par with a company like Rigid, but I was able to get the light, FJ switch, wiring harness, and materials for the mount all for about a quarter of the price of just a Rigid 30" light!
I initially wanted to mount the light bar behind the satoshi grill but it seemed to be too difficult to accomplish due to a lack of space.
I instead decided to mount it behind the lower grill following this thread.
I modified the idea a bit and instead of using an entire piece of angle iron across the bumper as my mounting point, I mounted it on the two pillars that are supporting the bumper. Seemed easier, required less material, and less work. Grabbed some flat pieces of steel from home depot, then cut, bent, and drilled holes into it to make my mounts
I wired the light to a stock FJ Fog Light Rocker Switch that I mounted in one of the empty slots on the dashboard
I also Satoshi'ed out the lower grill so that I could get as much light output as possible
Here it is fully assembled
Here it is with the lights fired up!
+ lowbeams & fogs on!
All in all, very happy with my purchase. Great product for the price! I'd buy it all over again if I had the choice.
