I recently inquired about buying one K&N CAI for my V8...

I did and just installed it about an hour ago.

WOW! I definitely underestimated the change in performance, but most definitely the sound. What in the world. I had read a lot on here and other places that said not to expect much. So I wasn't.

I had also talked myself out of getting an exhaust... which I likely have just been talked back into...

Who else has one and what things should I watch for?

I have k&n too ! It deffienly make it sound better :] but my friend have a stock 06 4runner and we did a couple races. From stop to 60 and from 10mph to 60 in first gear. Mine was only a Little bit faster. If you looking for more performance i will buy a gibson exhaust. They're price are decent and they are a good company.

I was thinking about the Gibson. I'd like the Borla, but far too expensive for a college student...

i ran a K&N intake before with the stock exhaust then took it off, ran a muffler(flowmaster) with the stock intake.. then now i have both intake and exhaust and you can really tell the difference.. more airlfow and im loving the power and sound that it produces.

OP: since your on a budget like me: you can replace your muffler with an aftermarket and call it a day.

If you're worried about money you can always to what I did and get a muffler. 80 bucks for a really good sounding 4Runner. I just installed my Flowmaster Super 44 and it sounds really nice!! :bigok:

Once i received my Gibson Exhaust ill record a video and let you guys know how the install went. Probably going to my local muffler shop to install it. Btw if you guys are looking for aftermarket cat-back exhaust i would recommend Gibson, the cheapest price i can find for gibson are $280 for auminized or $380 for the stainless steel version on Autoanything.com

But couldn't a muffler shop take that cat-back and make it a dual out (not a true one cause it'd be from the muffler back, but at least aesthetically)?

In that case why dont you just get a custom dual from your local shop? Here in Madison,WI they will do it for $289.99.

:iagree: pick a muffler brand you like, buy an 1 inlet, 2 outlet, & have the shop fab up the tail pipes.

I just recently purchased and installed my K&N Intake and I love the sound it makes. I am actually going to the Truck shop today and gonna pick up the Flowmaster 50 Series Suv Muffler for $120 dollars. I youtubed the sound and I liked it. One week from today I should have my Nitto Terra Grapplers. I will take pics and even an video.:banana:
