k&n drop in air filter

I got one of these air filters a few months back. I'm getting an oil change today, was just wondering if i should clean it yet?
For those of you that have it, how often do you clean it?
Also how much of the oil do you use?

I was going to clean my maf and throttle body after the oil change so i figured i could just clean the air filter while I'm at it.

Just be careful not to use too much oil or you'll screw up the MAF and have to clean it again.

Danny, it depends on the conditions in which you drive, dusty off-road conditions yes but city driving it is not needed to clean as often. Each time you wash the filter there is some deterioration of the cotton filter media (not a lot but some).

About every 5,000 miles I will take out the filter and use my shop vac to suck the outside (not inside) of the filter to clean out bugs etc. Every 12-15,000 miles I clean the filter with their cleaner and then re-oil.
