K&N FIPK not CARB Exempt ?

I didn't know that the K&N FIPK wasn't CARB exempt...did anyone else know about it ?

It's not going to affect me too much because my truck has Colorado plates and I won't see the inside of a smog test center for another 5 years. What do you California guys with the intake do ?

why even worry about it now? The first smog test due in CA for new cars 2003 and newer is 6 years and then every two years after that. You won't even have to worry until your smog test due in 2011.

According to K&N, they are CARB exempt (http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm). You could always replace the stock intake for the test then reinstall the K&N after you pass.

Wasnt it the AirCharger that was not CARB legal? IIRC the FIPK is legal. It would pass smog, just not visual inspection.
