K&N Intake: which one?

I may have a deal on a new K&N intake at a great price. I don't know much about these, so I'd like some info. I see two different ones on their site. One is listed as an "Aircharger" and the other as the "77" kit. The Aircharger has slightly better hp increase, but is it the better of the two? I do all on road driving, looking for the sound (of course!) and maybe a little better mpg and performance. Thanks!

i do not know much of a difference but i have the 77 kit and it sounds great on mine maybe someone will chime in soon

I have the aircharger one , 63-9023 is the model. It makes my v6 sounds mean when i stomped on the gas :] I would say go with which ever is cheaper. Not that big of a difference.

Are you relying on the advertised HP gains? Please say it ain't so...

Curious what kind of deal you're getting. I'm not a big fan of K&N so I found the TRD for $280 shipped.

To be honest, I can't remember which K&N I went with but Nuke is right, you're not going to notice much difference in performance. Mostly just sound. I love the sound of it alone. I just installed a flowmaster super 44 muffler and love the sound even more!!

Either way, I suggest K&N because it's a little cheaper and you get great sound out of it.

I do not have my fingers crossed for matching their performance gains or gaining gas mileage. However, I consider this as an added bonus. I can't explain the deal yet, as I don't know the full details. All that matter is I may be able to get one of the two well below retail, and that's really the only reason I'm considering it. Thanks!

Regardless, it's definitely a good mod providing you can keep your foot out of it. Anytime you do something to help the engine breathe is a good thing.

Haha, my foot stays in it already! Judging by your sig, you should probably know. I sold a modded 96 Mustang Cobra and then got the 4runner. Even with the v8, I still expect to be thrown back in the seat when I push the pedal. When it doesn't, it tends to get pressed that much harder .

I will own another one some day. As an only vehicle it just wasn't doing it for me. I've got a feeling my next one will be a 2004 Mysticchrome, but I may go back with a low mileage 96 Mystic.

the aircharger is suppose to have a tiny bit quieter intake sound & a non mettaliic tube iinstead. http://www.knfilters.com/kits.htm

Thanks for the link! I've been doing some looking, and it seems dry filters are preferred. Are the ones that come with the kit wet or dry? If wet, where can I get a dry one?
