Kayak on roof basket

Does anyone put their kayak up on their roof basket? Looking to get a Rola Vertex, I have a 12' sit on top. Can't find any threads on this. will be going on a 2006 sr5

See no reason why it can't be done, just wanted some input.

I don't think it would be a problem, since both Thule and Yakima make adapters to enable their kayak saddles to "grab" just about anything.

I think your only potential issue would be loading and unloading at the extra height. But that's really only an 'issue' if you think it is (like if you happen to be 4'7" tall).

What I do now with my tacoma is just use the Yakima bars and used tie downs. I'm guess it's just the same concept....and yeah...it'll be harder for me since I'm only 5'7....lol

My kayaks are 10 and 11 feet. I have no issues. I tie the ratchet straps to the oem rails.
