Keep or remove the running boards?

while I agree that the factory boards do nothing compared to rock sliders, but I think im past the rock slider part of my life...and wonder how many out there will really need them or just a mall cruiser look for some however.....for me..the stock boards ..they keep all the mud, slush and snow off the side of my rig, my grand kids can hop in and out easy. I use them to kick the snow off my boots b4 I get in.
ive pulled them off previous rigs, they will stay on this one.
my 2 cents....to each their own

Sliders on my trail rig, not on any other. Purpose built cause rocket panels aren't easy to replace.

That being said, my 5'2" girlfriend appreciates running boards lol

They look better without ‘em plus you’ll delay the rust on your rockers plus it’ll give you more clearance

I took mine off a year ago and have yet to regret it. I did snap a few of the old rusty bolts in the removal process like you mentioned.

REMOVE!!! I always remove em stock or not. I really wanna get sliders for mine soon though.

I agree folks can do what they wish. I don't off road at all. So the running boards keep the rig a lot cleaner. So I mostly repair rockers and eventually put them back on for sake of keeping the body cleaner as well as my wife and daughter like to use them as well.

I have a '96 that had the stock ones. Finally removed them, and subsequently installed my now ex's, tubular step bars, which look better by a mile.

I would mention, if you have the factory fender flares, and factory running boards, you'll delete the lower end of the front flares.

Lived with it for a while, finally had a buddy 3D print a pair for me, thanks to the member who made those files available here.

I took mine off and loved the look. Then went out on a dirt road and heard all sorts of pings and pops of rocks hitting my doors!

I didn't realize how much protection they provided. I'm considering fabbing a little front mud flap to try and help with that. Not sure if it will help though while staying small enough to not be in the way.

Also, I've seen some lifted limiteds with the running boards still on and decided that looked pretty nice. At stock height though, taking them off is great for the look.

Sorry, busy time of year for me.

It took him a couple 12 hour attempts to do them, they were right at the limits of his printers capabilities. So I'm guessing not, but you now have a link so that's cool.

Mine ended up with fairly heavy printer lines. I scuffed them down with ScotchBrite green pads, then hit it with a few layers of black Plasti-Dip spray. Pretty happy with the close texture/finish match.
