keep the stripe or remove it? pics?

i've got a light blue 94 and i've been thinking about removing the stripe that goes across the sides. i love the truck, but i think it looks pretty lame the way it is now. it's been a thought for awhile to paint it black (probably spraypaint for its convenience). flat or gloss, i dont know. i've been told flat can look pretty sweet. i'm really into the chrome look, and maybe flat will accent it incredibly.

then i've got a buddy of mine who's willing to do flames. i thought even replacing the stripe with a diminishing flame might look pretty sweet.

for now, though, i'm just concerned about the stripe (as i am a procrastinator). i think i should remove it, but i'd like to see if someone who has the same color as i do has removed the stripe on theirs. i also have stock steel wheels and would like to fancy them up some without buying new ones alltogether.

so yeah, i'm not looking to put a whole lot of money into the cosmetics of the truck anymore, but i'd like to do what i can with a small budget.

i have a white 94...and when my dad bought it from his land lady...it didnt have the stripe on it...and i remember thinkin that it always looked a whole lot better than the T4Rs with the stripe...the stiripe makes it look alot older...just bad design from the early 90's...now the truck is mine...and im thinkin about repaintin flat black aswell...so im gonna keep my eye on this thread for any pics of flat black runners...cuz i havent seen any...

Heat gun and a PLASTIC putty knife and that stripe will be of no more. do NOT use razor blades..... trust me on that one.

be careful pulling the stripe i pulled some clear when i did mine. its not bad but i know its there.

oops!

well, i was bored one night, i had parts of the stripe peeling off, and well, i was bored.

anyway, my concerning point is that although the stripe is gone, the adhesive remains. goo gone, goof off, rubbing compound, gasoline... nothing is doing much of anything.

am i really going to have to buy a heat gun, or do i have a liquid and elbow-grease alternative?







wow... "liquid" and "elbow grease" do not belong in the same sentence.

Old time cigarette lighter fluid (Ronson for example ) works great for dissolving the adhesive left bt the stickers.
