To amuse myself I wen't into a hardware store and asked for a metric Crescent wrench and Instead of getting an odd stare the person actually asked their manager if they stocked such an item.

Yeah, I hate it when I lose my metric ones, then I only have the ones for the inches, and they don't fit as well...

lol.
Reminds me, I once went to a hardware store and asked for a rainbow colored paint. It took the person few moments to realize what I just said... lol

at the utility company I work for they sometimes send the new guy going from crew to crew at a jobsite looking for the pipe stretcher :lmao:

Send them to fetch one gallon of "blinker fluid" -- and when they come back, ask them for a "left-handed smoke shifter."
:cursin:

In the morning for my old summer job we would always go to a small general store. We tell the new guys they make the best pancake bisquit sandwiches. Silly, but still hilarious when you here them order the sandwich.

I used to work at a sporting goods store. Including the shore line joke above, other favorites included the bowling helmet and the fur-lined cup (for winter sports!) After we had enough fun with the employees of our store, we'd call other locations and drive them crazy.

A few years back my buddy pranked called me when I got a job at the Sears shoe dept asking for steel toe sandals.

*ahem*
We *actually* have that in Iceland. (In ICELAND, of all the friggin places in the world, were average tempeture is usually below 10 degrees celcius)

I remember once when we sent a new guy at work out for "plastic welding sticks" (for using stick welding to weld plastic pieces...).
He went from store to store until he finally realized how stupid that was...

Also one person was sent to the company next to ours to borrow an "air bubble" for a spirit level... The guy who she asked figured the joke out and his reply was "I thought I gave him one yesterday, but that was my last, but we'll prolly have it in next week..."

We are still laughing at this one. lol

I'd like to see a pic of that (steel toe sandals.)

Really, I'm having a hard time picturing this in my mind. I'd really like to see a pic of them.

Not only was that a great one for him to go look for, but the answer is priceless! :D
