I already install Kenwood DDX-7017.
It`s extremely nice, fit perfect in 2003-2005 4Runners, sound it`s Great.
Honestly it`s a Good Buy.
I think you need to buy Kenwood DDX-8017 or DDX-7017 because are the latest model.
You also can install the Kenwood Ipod Kit Interface or Tv Tuner, work perfect too.
So the Kenwood DDX-7015RB it`s a Older Model and RB means Refurbished, i don`t recommended.

I ask because I have my 4r down at Audio Excellence in Orlando now for 2 days for a 5 hour install (that is what they first told me). Now they say it is taking so long because there is no 2din kit for my DDX8017 and they are having to build a 2 din kit out of a single din kit. I think they might be b.s.ing me because the 4r is already designed for 2din radios. Any thoughts?

Your Headunit is a 2 Din so you dont have any problems to install and it fits perfectly.
The only problem that you may have is if your HeadUnit doesn`t have the plastic bases in the sides you will need to buy in the Toyota Dealer or take them out from an Universal Installation Kit.
In my Country the 2003-2005 4 Runners comes with this bases but the 2006 come with a Headunit thats wider so you need to put the plastic bases if you replace the OEM Headunit.
The Japanese Cars usually comes with 2 Din Headunits.
The DDX-8017 its the Top of The Line for our Trucks so you made a Good Choice.
