Kenwood Excelon DNX-8120

I just bought a DNX-8120 off of ebay and was thinking about how to wire up the speakers. I definitely am going to use the 5.1 output and run two amps. But I was thinking about speaker placement and what wold sound good.

Center Channel - I am going to build a custom center channel
FL and FR - Stock location in the doors is fine
Sub - Stock location with custom built box

Surround - here is where i have the issue. I dont think the stock location for the rear speakers in the bottom of the rear doors will provide good imaging. I am thinking of place them in the upper portion of the rear pillar in the back section where the mirrors currently reside.

But then I loose the speaker in the rear door. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get around this. Could i run the rear speaker in the door with the stock amp on the 8120?

that is a good place to put them...you could also somehow put them on the pillar right before the far rear side windows? as far as hooking them up...if i understand you correctly i run them with the 8120...another thing you can do is have like a 7.1....the rear doors would be rear speakers too...but thats up to you..hope i helped you

If the 8120 did decode 7.1 I would consider it, but it only does 5.1. I need to spend some more time brainstorming how i wanna configure the system. But I pretty sure I am putting the rear surround all the way in the back. thanks for the thought.
