Key Fob Problems and Hatch Window Issues

Not sure these problems are related, but I feel like they are.

The Lock/Unlock on my Remote suddenly stopped working. The Hatch Window rolls down using the Remote.

I can Lock/Unlock all 4 doors/Gate using the Key in the Driver Door.

The Hatch Window will not roll Up or Down from the switch on the dash. It works just fine using the key in the hatch.

I literally used the back window and key fob the day before. I thought the battery was getting weak on the key because I was having to press the fob a few times to get it to lock or unlock. So naturally I thought to change the battery in the fob when it just stopped working.

I'm stumped with this one. I don't know what the Remote has to do with the back window, but I feel like they are connected somehow.

Maybe not related but sounds like the hatch wires are busted to the point where the connection was lost. I would examine those first as its getting more and more common for the wires to start breaking on the 3rd gens.

Sounds like you might have a broken wire in the rear hatch wiring loom between the body and the rear hatch. If I remember correctly the key fob receiver is in the rear hatch.

In addition to checking the wires. The remote works with the receiver in the hatch. maybe some moisture got in there. The buttons on the remote should be aligned correctly. Bending the tabs to increase pressure on the battery might work but in this case you have some functionality so that might not be the battery. Remote life could have run out a new remote might be an option.

Hatch wiring.

Remote receiver is in the hatch, so the rear window roll-down will work, along with up/down via the key in the back.

Rear window roll down from the dash and lock/unlock is handled through the MPX bus, which is likely the wire that is broken in the loom between the body and hatch.

edit: This is all valid for 99-02, 96-98 is different (doesn't have rear window button on fob...)
